Help - Nail Psoriasis Problem
Question:

I have nail psoriasis along with psoriasis. It clears up to some extent and reoccurs every few months. One of my fingernails, towards the end of my thumb, has turned a blackish/green color where the nail is raised up. This comes back with each flare-up and until the nail grows out then it starts over again. It does not seem to affect the skin just the nail. I have tried everything I can think of including peroxide, alchohol, and vinegar soaks to get rid of this. I keep trimming the nail back. Does anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions? I don't have another appointment with my Dr. for 5 months so by then it may have grown out.

Answers:

I have nail problems too. Mine are getting really bad again. My toenails are so thick they are really hard to trim. My fingernails are getting so bad that I think I'm about to lose my nails on a few fingers. The only thing that ever helped them before was when I was on enbrel. It took awhile for them to clear up but they finally did.

Answers:

My nail problems are on my toes. A medical reporter mentioned in my local nbc affiliate, that people are achieving great success with Vicks Vapor rub twice a day. Results are noticable in eight months. Yes, I said eight months. The evidence presented is all anecdotal. This reporter is an acutal physician. She thought such a mention was warrented.
