Thanks for that link, Karen.
I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. I thought it was quite moving, to be honest.
There's probably not enough hugging going on in the world, you know? I think we're all probably missing out on something there.
(Great song, too, eh?)

It was quite moving, I think I watched it eleventy billion times, made my husband watch it and sent it to my daughter...

BUMP! Look, anything that can put a smile on my face deserves a bump. At least just this once.

You're right.
I wasn't going to post this but...I thought I'd share a hug story.
When I was on the cruise at the conference in Portland, there was a guy sitting by himself. Being my shy self I went over and sat next to him and started a conversation, I can't stand to see anyone alone at events. Not that he looked bored or anything, I'm just that way, and I wanted to sit down lol. We both have PA, and were sharing war stories, treatment options, where we lived, families etc...he too came from a long line of psoriatics ..and was going the el natural route or looking into it.
For some reason he randomly hugged me.
Just like in the middle of a convo...A big ole' bear hug..he wasn't trying to hit on me or anything, he was being nice.
I'm pretty sure that's one reason why I absolutely adore this film clip/song/story. Brings back nice memories & restores my faith in humanity.

His name is Clay (?), he's from Seattle are and if he's reading this;
Thanks for that hug.

This bump is dedicated to the families whose children were slain at Virginia Tech. RIP.

Ok- I will admit, with the title "free hugs" I thought it would be cheesy.
WAS I WRONG!
It was the sweetest, most tender thing I have seen in ages. Loved it. Thanks for sharing that.

Watching the video was very touching. It reminded me of a favorite website of mine. Along with p and psa I also have fibromyalgia. I found the following site a few years when I was on a quest for information but what I also found was a ton of online support....very similar to what I have found here. I found great information, support, and especially a lot of hugs in the chat room. If you have fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue syndrome, check it out.

I wish I could say that I discovered that video on my own ( a Big thanks to ademas the original post-er). I thought such a thread needed to be resurrected given the horrific occurence. Hey I still view it on occassions on days when life is rosey and the thorns are far out onto the horizon.
Glad you like it. Its good to know you were touched. Now if you'd excuse me I am off to get a beer and pretzels. The Ultimate Fighting Championships are on. That plus there a "Die Hard" marathon and you know that I cant miss "The Rock" with Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery. LOL

I have a little hug story...
I was at my first Grateful Dead concert with a big group of friends. My friend Julie and I went down toward the stage to dance with the "spinners". (Fell on my a**!) We were on our way back to our seats, stuck in a huge traffic jam of people on the concourse, when the song "Truckin'" started. There was a deafening roar from the crowd, and everyones hands went up in the air. This guy next to me elbowed me in the face, hard. I about fell over from the blow and the shock of the pain it caused. The old hippie who hit me said, "Oh sweetheart, I'm so sorry, are you ok?" I couldn't answer him. He grabbed me and hugged me tight, apologizing profusely. He smelled like sweat and fruity incense, and I just let him hug me as long as he wanted to. Then he said, "Here's a kiss to make it all better," and he kissed me on the cheek. It was really sweet. A little later I discovered he'd slipped a little "hand rolled cigarette" into the pocket of my sundress...man, I miss the Grateful Dead...
Nice little song and video, by the way...

GREAT hug story! I love the Dead. I wish I had been a bit older at that time, so I could have seen them live.
This is turning into a good thread...

Ok, my hug story isn't really as cool as the Dead story, but it does involve hippies. But don't all hug stories eventually end up with hippies? :)
When I was about 17 years old I moved to Colorado to "find myself." Which is a really nice way of saying that I had flunked out of college and had decided that instead of staying around in Louisiana, I was going to make my own way in the world. At that point in my life I was dealing with some emotional problems, some of which- you guessed it- involved my P. I didn't really like being touched. I had my little "bubble" and didn't want anyone invading it.
Anyway, I got a job at this quaint little art gallery in a small town in Colorado, and got to be good friends with the hippies that worked there. I immediately fell in love with all of them. They were a small family, and since I was pretty much a kid, and alone- they pretty much adopted me. Of course I didn't realize it at the time, but they became my new family, away from home.
After dinner one night, Nicole, the mom of the group, reached over and bear hugged me as I was leaving to go home. Now to her, it was no big deal. But to me- it was huge. But after getting over the shock of it, I just kind of fell into the hug and enjoyed it. After that- there was hugging all over the place! Cause hippies are huggy people, and thinking back on it, they probably thought I was weird cause I didn't hug.
I eventually moved back to Louisiana, and left my little hippie pack in Colorado. But I always say that they were the ones who taught me how to hug. When Nicole hugged me after dinner that night she forced me to get over my issues, and I did. Now I have no issues with hugging! Even reliving that time of my life I feel a flush of emotion, I am tearing up as I type!
Even though I am almost 26 now, I am still a "hugger" cause of those damn hippies. :)
