Question:
Some forums, such as the Washington Post reader forum have a security lock at the bottom, so that if your screen name is googled, nothing will appear. Listserves have strict rules on contents not being extracted or posted anywhere else. The NPF forum is public content, and if you type your screen name on Google, it links out to you and this site. I think it is important to remember when posting that all your posts can be read with this link, and can be read by a future employer in a personnel background check. It might be helpful to write your posts in such a manner that you wouldn't worry if they were pulled up in the future by someone who was deciding whether or not they wanted you to be employed in their company.
Just a thought.

Can the NPF keep this from happening? They should.
Annie
They can and should!

I hope this helps.

Thank you for linking the web master's important reply. Only information that you choose to post here can be read by, say a future human resources department. So if one is careful not to post where they live, or their photo, or any personal medical information that they would want kept private, then they aren't putting their medical records on the internet for the world to see.
I also think the tone and content of the replies would be very important in such matters. Especially if one has chosen to be a very public person on this board.

It's still not nice to let everything be on the WWW,,,,,,,,,,we were not warned of that when joining. It could be easily changed.
FYI
Everyone should be encouraged to read and understand the I am not sure but I think that everyone that has signed onto the Message Boards "accepts" these conditions. Personally, I did not commit these rules to memory, but I do remember understanding that what ever I wrote to these message boards can and would be seen across the WWW.

Hi,
Normally I introduce myself as Karen not ouchyk...although once in a while when I meet someone from the boards I tell them my sn if I feel like it.
Funny, when I met my co-leader she asked me if my sn was ouchyk...is it that obvious LOL!? :p
Not a big deal, I have been told that a post of mine showed up on different website. ;) That to me was a tad " odd " as the post that showed up wasn't relevant to anything except those who were attending a gathering, and from what I understand there are copyright rules on the site here.
Oh well...lol. No harm done, no one showed up other than those who said they were coming... :D Although anyone would have been welcomed.
Karen
Just Googled "Nesielheum" and I was amazed at how long I have been yacking about psoriasis on the WWW
Even more amazing is the fact that a website I created many moons ago is still generating enough hits to maintain its place on AOL hometown
Watch out for the baby elephants! Nesielheums Psoriasis Photo Page I cannot help but wonder how everyone on those pages, especially the kids, are doing now??
Tim,
Open it back up! I bet you'd have a bunch of new members lol :D

Karen LOL That was too much like work! Even worse, without an active AOL account I do not have access to the HTML. Besides my feeble little website doesn't hold a match to BarbaraW's. It was nice to see that the Hall of PShame was one of the few links that still works!
Just a thought.
