Question:
Willie Nelson cited for pot, mushrooms
POSTED: 3:08 p.m. EDT, September 18, 2006
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (AP) -- Willie Nelson and four others were issued misdemeanor citations for possession of narcotic mushrooms and marijuana after a traffic stop Monday morning on a Louisiana highway, state police said.
The citations were issued after a commercial vehicle inspection of the country music star's tour bus, state police said in a news release.
"When the door was opened and the trooper began to speak to the driver, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana," the news release said.
A search of the bus produced 11/2 pounds of marijuana and 0.2 pounds of narcotic mushrooms, according to state police.
A call to Nelson's publicist wasn't immediately returned.
Also cited were Tony Sizemore, 59, of St. Cloud, Florida; Bobbie Nelson, 75, of Briarcliff, Texas; Gates Moore, 54, of Austin, Texas; and David Anderson, 50, of Dallas, Texas.
Each was released after being issued a citation.
Nelson, 73, has recorded songs including "On the Road Again" and "City of New Orleans."
W  W 73 and still at it eh?....well I guess it works for him!
Wonder what would happen if it was " joe shmoe " do you think he'd be singing the " jail house blues " lol.

Yes, what a bad example he has set. Children look up to artists (musical, movie, etc.) sports figures and parents. We can't behave one way and expect our children to do the right thing. And it's not his first encounter with the law. His tax evasion is another bad example. Responsible behavior! Willie doesn't seem to get it. Such talent, such a waste.

Maybe he's a friend of Dr. Anthony Weil.... :D
Karen
I can think of few other friends he just might have. Time for old Willie to pack up the smokes and head off to AA.

Willie may very likely be headed to the governor's mansion here in Texas -- one of the candidates, Kinky Friedman (IND), intends to appoint Willie Nelson head of the energy department, if elected:

Will be interesting to see what effect this latest news will have on Kinky's plans ... I was (half-)listening to an interview with him on the radio last week and there was some discussion about legalizing marijuana, though, so perhaps he won't give two hoots about it.

Also seems a little stragne that he only got a misdemeanor citation. Anyone else who gets busted with a pound and a half of weed and a quarter pound of mushrooms goes directly to PRISON, do not pass go, do not collect $200!
I seriously don't mean to sound sarcastic, but WHY would ANYBODY be surprsied by this from Willie Nelson??   Don't get me wrong, I really do like his music and feel he is quite talented, but sounds to me like he's actually slowing down a bit in his old age :)
Steve, you're right...if that was any one of US.......but then again there's lots of celebrity and political "incidents" that just don't make sense (to me anyway!).

Willie Nelson's public statement regarding being caught with a bag of Marijuana earlier this week:
"It's a good thing I had a bag of Marijuana instead of a bag of spinach. I'd be dead by now."

Did Willie really say that?
lmao, that cracks me up. ...Really? I enjoy the man's music, what he does in his sparetime is his business as far as I'm concerned. And I think that "reefer" does have some beneficial medicinal qualities that could be used in the future... And no, I haven't tried it. I just know people who have... ^_^
Willie has already done "community service" in Thibodaux. Police bought him to the Fireman's Fair in handcuffs. When they got the edge of the stage they took them off, let him perform, then when he walked off the stage put them back on and then back to the jail.
lmao I TOLD YALL yall though i was F.O.S. didnt ya
