Question:
46 million Americans do not have health coverage. Many large corporations are ending their health plans, or severely limiting coverage. They are renegotiating contracts because the costs are going up so rapidly that the benefits are an unaffordable business expense. I totally support any person who needs expensive medications as the only resort to prevent paralysis or death. However, I fear there will be many more companies who will just drop this benefit if drugs that are less costly but effective are not used.
From what I've been reading and seeing on the Nightly Business Report, the trend is to set a limit on benefits and that could really hurt many people who truly need arthritis meds to stay mobile. Headline in the Denver Post was that taxpayer's picked up 52% of the hospital costs last year. The political talk shows are all saying this nation cannot afford the projected entitlement program costs. I'm concerned that if it is abused, we will all lose.
Just a thought.
hi ann,
to me. it's a shame that this country can't help it's people out more. when i get my meds at the drug store and see a old person pay 300 or 400 hundred for them. i think that's totaly wrong. i feel real bad for them and wish i could pay for them my self. meds go up just like gas does.
Hi Rich,
This country has such a huge deficit, that they can't help financially. Businesses are throwing in the towel as well, or severely limiting benefits. I watched a special news report concerning Whole Foods and how they are limiting the health insurance benefits. They are providing a set amount, and educating their employees about taking care of their health. So, for example, if their employees choose to eat high cholesterol foods and then need bypass surgery, well, that pretty much uses up all of their allotment and the rest comes out of their own pocket. Everybody is going to be hurt if we don't make healthy choices and use the least expensive medication that will resolve the condition.

So you're saying you don't support those who need expensive medications to stop the progression of PA and patients whose psoriasis is out of control as they wouldn't be part of who you consider to worthy of medication.

So paralysis or death is the only reason someone needs 'expensive medicatations'?
I disagree. One hundred percent disagree.
