I'll be honest, I don't expect an answer. But I have to ask anyway.
Why is it, that some people seem to be trying to do anything and everything to stop our little group? What is it about the West Michigan Psoriasis Support Group that seems to have ticked some people off?
I would really like to know.
And if you'd prefer to not answer publicly, feel free to send me a PM.
Hi Al. How so? Are these people attacking the computer site and causing website maintenance problems? If so, I'll send you an private mail about my experience, and the reason that I think it stopped.

Over time, many things have happened. Someone tried logging in as various members, myself included. There have been some minor hacking attempts. And when we started a public chat room, some people came and logged in, picking user names that they knew were in use by people who frequent this forum, and the Michigan Psoriasis forum.
There are constant references to our "secret" forum. Not a very good secret, if everyone knows about it, is it. ;)
And I have it on good info that a group of people are "watching" our little group. For what reason, I have no idea.
I'll grant that some "complaining" goes on at our forum, about this place. But then, some people have to complain somewhere to someone when they're not happy.
Is it a coincedence that some of our members are not happy with some things here? I don't know.
I do know there is a history of discord among several people on this forum. And somewhere, buried in this forums' archives, you can still find messages where we were told to go start our own group/forum. We did, so why do some insist on doing whatever they can to disrupt us?
I'm not trying to start an argument, nor am I trying to be disruptive (though I'm sure I'll end up being accused of fomenting a bad atmosphere.). I'd just like to know why.
I'm sorry to hear about this. You formed a support group; and want it to stay that way for your members. If debates and rather frank discussions about causes and cures are viewed as discord and upset your members, then they aren't going to feel supported here. Personally, I feel that if everyone at the NPF site always posted with replies that are acceptable according to an etiquitte school (e.g. don't talk about anything but the weather); and didn't express themselves freely to discuss the topics, the threads wouldn't have much to offer. Others find this type of frank discussion too upsetting and certainly should have another place to share. Some have found a way to do this within this forum. Hope things improve and people stop trying to enter your forum without your permission.

I know there have been some "frank discussions" here. I also know that some people feel they were insulted, however innocous it may have been. Personally, I've never been one to mince words. If I felt someone said or did something wrong, I tell them.
We do have similar "frank discussions" on our forum. As a matter of fact, there's quite a row going on now that could prove a minor disaster. But it's in a little out of the way place, and should not disrupt the rest of our forums.
We also, recently went to a subsriber forum, which I was not in favor of, but since I don't pay the bills, I don't get much say in that matter.
I'm just trying to figure out the great attraction that our little group seems to have for some people. I'll admit that I know who some of those people are, but I'm not going to mention screen names for a very obvious reason.
That, and I'm trying to be polite. ;)

Members here post what their dermatologists are doing, and sharing this information gives people new ideas. Maybe they are just looking for more information along these lines, and were not trying to harm or invade your privacy.
We've had some extremely interesting and informative posts here. SuzanneT provided a link to a pppp site; and it also included a full picture of a person with plaque psoriasis over an extensive area. Today is the first photo I've seen like that and finally understand what plaque posters are talking about. The NPF site seems fairly comprehensive covering most of the issues, for those who are here looking for information. It doesn't have a "well if you like it, then I love it" atmosphere. Everyone has a perspective based on what they are personally dealing with. Anyone with psoriasis is welcome to read and speak here; but I certainly support the right to have private groups that
want something different.

If it wasn't for good info I had from another party, I might have thought so too. I know that someone, from a different IP address tried to log in as me. And someone also tried logging in as a number of other users.

Sally's dermatologist said to get rid of aggravating factors, which includes the stress response. Jor-El advised that if there isn't anything you can do about it, don't worry; and if there is something you can do about it don't worry. I really feel this advice has helped me. Just ignore whoever is trying to impersonate you, and change your password often. Gosh, even Mother Theresa had detractors. Everyone encounters people who dislike their style. I'm just so glad that your MI group has found a place where you find support.

from what ive heard about your group is that it kicks butt, people are probably just jealous but dont want to admit that they like yours alot. if it keeps happening, there has to be some way to stop it. keep up the good work!
If those who don't like us, only knew what was going on "behind the scenes" right now, they'd be jumping for joy.
But every group has it's ups and downs. We're just on a slight down right now.

Im for one, "applaud" your honesty in wanting to know. Personally, I think that when you get a large group of folks together (especially online) you will get some extremists. We have them here and I think you have also taken some with you to your new site. Just my humble opinion, but from what I've seen here there are a select "few" on both sides (NPF and MI) who seem to just love to egg one another on, even when everybody is getting along. The fact that ANYONE takes ANY website that much to heart is frightening, to say the least!
I am sincerely sorry to hear that you are having ANY problems at your new site. Sadly, I would hope that everybody would unite (here, there and anywhere!) against the true enemy (P and PA).

Hi Polly & Nancy. I'm still around, just not posting as much. My new rheumy is trying to find out which meds will work for me. Unforunately, he hasn't succeeded yet, he also told me to avoid stress as much as possible so I've been trying to avoid it, kinda hard to do with 2 very active kids :)

Nice to "see" you. Sounds like you do like that new rheumy...hope he/she finds something soon that gives you some relief. I don't have ANY suggestions for avoiding stress when you have a DH and kids :) The reason I probably haven't seen you around here is that I just don't have time enough to sort through so many posts at the end of a day when I get in.

Back to topic.... Al, so sorry that behind the scenes there are problems and it is going downhill right now. I'm sure you are a great administrator and can resolve these things soon. Hackers have been a problem whenever I'm on this site. Doesn't happen on any other website. Sometimes on my lunch hour, I'll use my work computer to view posts. Those attempted entries are traced. I can imagine that it will be an unpleasant experience when those hackers are confronted. That is why I think it stopped. No need to send this discussion via private mail. Its been going on for months and probably needs to be said on the boards.
Of course a private website like yours doesn't have the resources to trace and deal with hackers. I suppose you can report them to your internet provider and maybe they can do something about it. Are they trying to steal passwords and personal information? It is serious business. Hope everyone has strong protection and firewalls, and if you can afford encryption software, buy it!

I still think there are extremists and/or zealots at each of the sites and, unfortunately, when you are dealing with those types of people (whether online or in real life) there will NEVER be a logical answer. Short of high-tech and expensive software, crazies are crazies, and there's never anything logical about what they do or who they do it to.

im as confused as your are. i don't "hijaked thread's either. well i hope not. but in conve side you can say what you what. or im told so. some times i get aliitle nuts but you have to some times. that is what keeps you going when you hurt all the time and your blister come back over night and you can't figure what you did to make that happen. i don't take sides either. i belevie a friend will always be a friend no matter what he said to some one else. i do know one thing for sure. i took under coths out of the bed draws to put on after a cold bath and they feel like they just came out of the dryer. it's to hot
