Question:
in some way i attack jor-el thread and im very sorry for that. but it hit a nerver. im not a guinea pig for taking meds but i took slippery emle and green tea and milk tinsell and mtx and alot more (o there not cheap). none worked for me. are your sure what any of there side affects will be. some you know but some want come out for years. enbrel did nothing for me but a brown mark in the skin were i did the shot. but to me it was worth every thing to try. it worked great for polly and know she is breaking out like before. i wish that p and pa had a cure. but it don't and i don't like some one telling me this will cure it. my mom dose it all the time. sorry to all. i just need to get it off my chest

Hi Rich,
I agree. It does hit a nerve, when there is a suggestion that we can cure psoriasis if we would only do certain things. Even Jor-El still has the psoriasis gene. I think the complimentary and alternative approaches are suggested as treatments that have worked for many to control the inflammation. But as you say, so far it hasn't helped you or Polly. I know you get up every day and go to work with your sore, burning feet. I know how hard it is to make it through each day, using the medications that are available to treat the symptoms, and these medications don't stop it from flaring.
Some of the suggested alternatives aren't something I would try. However, I can think of some ideas that make sense to me and will keep trying.
I feel like you do. Whenever I post that I'm getting clear, I seem to flare in the next day or two. I posted the other day how I finally cleared my neck and face of pustules, and today I have a red neck with pustules.
The only alternative that seems to help me so far is to get that extra little sunshine each day. Yesterday it rained (which was great for the lawn) but bad for my psoriasis. I hope you and Polly get your flares calmed down again and feel better soon.

For some odd reason most things that normally help most hurt me.
Sunshine, for example....I can only stand about 90 minutes before my skin starts burning, cracking, and bleeding... Lotions do alright, but nothing extraordinary. Camphophenique did wonders for me, however. And it dries your skin out. I tried the Blue Star Ointment....and it lit me on fire. Vinegar burns my skin, i'm allergic to it... And it seems everytime something does some good, after I use it for awhile it's like my skin adapts and I break out even worse when I keep using it.
It truly is maddening, ya know? I think I find something and WHAM! You could play connect the dots, lol.
I tried the whole natural treatment thing as well... Molasses and Cornflower oil, indian medicine woman. Used it for 3 months, no change whatsoever.
However, I have discovered that everything, and I mean everything effects it. My mood, the foods I eat, what time of day it is...and I'm pretty sure the planetary alignment could be causing some of it (just kidding).
Anywho...just thought I'd put in my 2 bits ^^()
And I wanted to ask if anyone's found that they're the same way....I've never found anyone who is, but it would be a relief to know that I'm not nuts. :)

Rich,
I understand what you mean. No one should be put down for what ever they decide to do to get rid of p. You are so right, there is no cure. Did I ever say that enbrel cured me? No. It did clear my p up 100%, but what happened when I stopped enbrel. It is slowly coming back. Just because we can't see the p anymore doesn't mean that it won't come back. We all try different things to make our p go away, some take meds, some try diet, some us try teas and herbs. What works for you may not do a thing for me. Please don't let other people bring you down. You are such a kind and caring person. Don't let someone that says something stop you from helping everyone else here. Please continue to welcome the new folks, remember you are the official greeter here.
love you so much,
Polly
Polly, you put that so well! Rich, Polly's right. Don't let ANYONE get you down. I agree with you, though.....I sometimes wish we could ALL put as much of an effort into controlling our P and PA as we can bickering about the petty stuff. After all, we are all in this thing together!
I love you, too! (I'm sure Polly doesn't mind! After all, I'm an "old broad" :D ).
Love,
Nancy

Rich,
Never feel bad about stating the truth. You are a very nice and caring person. Everyone is an individual, what works for one person might not work for the next. Since my diagnosis of PA and pppp, I have been on Enbrel, MTX, and Humira and none of them did anything for me. In the next couple of weeks I will have my first Remicade infusion. I know it is a major step, but I HURT so bad from the PA, the pppp is a minor issue compared to the pain from PA. At this point I would try anything to feel better. It is bad to wake up so stiff that I feel like 84 instead of 44 years old. My DH and 3 boys (19,17 and 14) deserve better than this. I still go to the Y everyday to loosen up my joints so I can make it through the day.
My point here is to let you know that if someone has not walked in your shoes they do not truly know what will work for you or not work.
We should all agree to disagree.
Take Care,
Cindy
