Did they change the boards?
Question:

Does anybody know if there was a change to the boards? I can't seem to find the Alternative board......hmmmm!! Maybe I am missing something?!?!

Answers:

They did...I was a bit confused myself....I think their is a thread on the first page that says "Welcome to the updated boards" check that out....it explains everything.

Answers:

Hi Jill,
Yes, they changed the Boards this afternoon. They combined the psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and the alternative board into one super board. That's the way that the Board was went it first was created way back in 2001.

A step backwards in time....not very easy to get around.... a bit unorganized, and not quite the same as the old ways...the PA had their own forum then....going to be a bit hard to find what you are looking for this way! In those days the alternatives group had one page we kept posting on.....it got pretty long and difficult to find anything on it!
I'm going to miss the alternatives.....

No wonder my auto log in didn't work. I thought I had been banned again. :)

the PA had their own forum then. In the very beginning (early 2001), everything was in one big super forum. The Parents and Caregivers Board was created several months later (Oct. 2001). (Here's a link: .) The PA forum wasn't created until June 2003. (Here's a link:

We need a SEARCH tutorial in the the Stickies.
Sometimes change is counterproductive. One of the nicest things about the way the forum was...is that you knew when you clicked on the forum name that you had entered discussion area where certain things were taken for granted.
Like if you had PA, you really didn't have to explain what a 'sausage finger' was.
Or if you were in the C&A forum, you'd be learning reasons to go to the health food store.
This format is far too broad, and shows far too few topics to be very helpful. Good threads will be lost within a day or 2, just by the nature of the acvtivity and the software.

HI !
It's like when they change a bus route: instead of getting on & finding your choice of seats, you have to stand !
Personally, when I came here I thought it was super well organized & suited both my treatment preferences & my need for knowledge.
( haha & my lack of computer skills )
I'm kinda sad for the newbies 'cause it simply isn't as functional for them.
YES PLEASE ADD A SEARCH TUTORIAL "STICKY" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope everyone stays positive about this place .....who knows, the best info yet could come from "Teens & Youth"....the FUTURE.
It means friends & neighbors have to drop by more often......

I guess just like any other change in life.
It will get sometime getting use to. :)

lumping everything together in one huge board, where information is easily lost is not productive...someone has made a grave error...unless I'm missing their purpose as to why they did this...it has become much more general and less specific and when doing research that is not a good thing...

here.... here!.... I couldn't agree more....I'm still perplexed as to the motive?

Answers:

One thing that I think will happen is that a few threads will get terribly long again.
And when that happens...most folks only read the end of the thread. So you have to tell people or quote from the first part of the thread.
This is very sad....and might I repeat...disorganized.
It certainly does not support the PA people, or the C&A people. And since we pay dues and have specific needs...we've lost what we paid and worked for.
As several people have already pointed out....when you have health issues that preclude steroids and biologics....they have made it near impossible to keep our sense of community together.
And we all know that feeling of community helped with personal acceptance and support. One click and you were there.
You have to wonder why we were all thrown into the melting pot, especially after C&A had gained so much momentum. You gotta wonder about the politics behind this change. No matter what the vision statement says...there are reasons for this upset.

This doesn't make sense to me, either. Different boards for specific questions was so helpful. Now, PA is diminished. And, certainly, CAM as well. I thought this was a more progressive organization (therefore more aggressive push for finding a cure) ?
Hey, I'm a paid member of NPF - where do we voice our opinion? Oh, 'contact us' on the home page, I'd guess....?

Answers:

I sent a very long letter voicing my concerns on the recent changes and requesting a reinstatement of the 'Alternatives' forum to the people who made this very 'bad' organizational decision at: forums@here. We'll see if they respond.

there's a saying.....
"If it ain't broke-don't "fix" it !"
Using the old "80/20" rule - 80% of all posts will now be jumbled up here.
We can say "yeah, whatever, I'll manage"
That's fine if one has some familiarity with the site, or recalls thread themes.
What about newcomers, 1st time visitors ?
At LEAST, how about a SEARCH TUTORIAL STICKY ?

Answers:

Ohno,,,it was fixed,,,they broke it! :)

Yes, Margueratt, thank you for the link. I just wrote them expressing (very politely of course) my displeasure. I liked it so much better the way it was!

I hate to complain but I don't like it either. Duane was right...when the threads are so long not everything gets read.

My 5 year old grandson is with us. We were with him from birth to 1 1/2 and we moved to NC and they were in Denver. They are in the process of moving to Birmingham, Al. So, he is staying with us until things get settled. We brought his "toy tubby" and scooter. He loves to "scoot" :) Right now he is getting his bath. No girls allowed! Only Grandpa.
We are having fun,fun,fun!
