Question:
Well, the last couple days have been even crazier than I was expecting them to be. So eventful that I found the time to get back on here and get some much needed support. When the movers came yesterday one of the guys stole John's titanium wedding ring that he wears to work, my wedding band, my one carrat platinum engagement ring and a saphire ring I got for my first anniversary. When you add up the total of all four rings it comes to being worth more money that our fully equipped 2001 Honda Civic. The guy would have been better off stealing the car. If caught he will face felony charges. I am so upset though. I have been unable to wear the rings the last couple months because I have put on weight and my rings were digging into my skin and actually leaving little lesions, so I had them tucked away in a box in our spare bathroom which was one of two rooms we had set aside and told the movers not to touch. John's ring was in a bag in the laundry room. We watched those guys so closely, I don't know how this guy slipped into those rooms and stole our rings. I am just in total shock and I am so scared that I will never see my rings again. We are insured, so I can get rings of equal value, but I don't want new ones. I want the rings my husband gave to me. I am just totally devastated. I can't believe this happened. I just want my rings back. -Taryn-
:( That's terrible. What did the company have to say?
that suck. i hate people like that. i feel so bad for you. i hope they catch them and you get your rings back. my bliuders stole things form are house to.
im so sorry. you will get the rings back. hang in there.
richard
Oh Taryn-
I am so sorry! I hope they find this person and your rings- I feel so awful for you.
Ill say a little prayer that your rings are returned to you. :o
Love,
MelissaLynn
Oh Taryn,
I'm so very sorry! :( That makes me so very, very angry. The sentimental value attached to your rings is priceless! And to add insult to injury, you and John must be feeling so violated! I hope and pray that they catch this guy and that they your rings! Keep us posted!
Mike
The head of the company has actually interviewed three of the four guys that were here looking for information. Unfortunately the one that everyone thinks did it is the one he has not been able to get a hold of. I guess the kid currently is in between homes and so he doesn't have a phone number or address they can reach him at. Great isn't it? I'm sure the moving co. will do everything in their power to help us out though because the Navy is a HUGE client for them and if they did something to tick the Navy off they would get blacklisted and they would lose A LOT of business. I just hope they can locate this jerk and get him to admit he took them so we can maybe get them back. -Taryn-
Hi Taryn,
That's awful. I guess we were fortunate.
We had 17 PCS moves while my husband was in the AF and we always had good moves. Never any damage.
Granny
Taryn,
That is just horrible was has happened to you and ur hubby. I feel just terrible. I seriously hope they catch this guy and he gets whats coming to him. Why do people have to do dumb crap????????
~Ashley~
OMG Taryn that is HORRIBLE! I can't believe that! I hope they hunt that guy down, find your rings, and charge him. I know it must be so hard losing such sentimental items. :( Keep us updated and let us know if they find the creep who did this. ((((LOTS OF HUGS))))
Hey Taryn,
I know what you're going through. When I was about 11, my family and I went to mass at our local parish, and then we were going to attend the fall picnic right after. When we went back to our car, it was gone! My parents were never so mad before. The police needed the license plate number, and luckily, I knew what it was but my parents didn't. We later got it back and it's still with us today.
So don't give up. There is always a chance you will get your rings back and that scum will be brought to justice! Though they found our car, they couldn't find the a$$ who stole it. The scum had the nerve to steal it during church. During CHURCH!! That is low as one could get. I can't think of anything more sinister than that. In light that our scumbags weren't caught, I'll pray that you'll get your revenge on yours.
Chin up and take care!
Taryn,
A few years ago someone broke into my sister's house. Took some rings and among them was our grandmother's wedding ring. The police said the best way to find them was the pawn shops. She went to every one in the area and told what had happened and sure enough a week later she got a call from a local place. She got all the rings and some other jewelery back and the name of the guy that brought them in. Sometimes cops in larger cities don't have time to check things like that.
Something to think about.
I hate it that someone thinks they can take anything they want.
Granny
Hey Taryn, So sorry to here about your loss. I hope they find the individual and draw-and-quarter him. Glad at least you have insurance even though it dosen't replace the semintial value of your possession. Hang in there, hopefully theywill find the SOB and recover your lost.
Mitch
Did you make a police report and did they come to your home to investigate? Grannys right on the money with the pawn shops! In Michigan they are required to make reports for everything they buy and we "the police" can search these reports. Make sure you notify the police and then check with your insurance too.
Oh Taryn I am so so so sorry that has happened to you..... What an as* that man is..... It is so wierd how we were just talked about rings and John was telling me to make sure that we spend that little extra money for the insurance...... Im in shock over here.... Keep you head up and have faith that this person is found with your rings and is brough to justice!!!! CALL ME if you need to talk....
I am so sorry this has happened! What is wrong with people these days?
I was on vacation and had my purse stolen...Even tho it was covered by homeowners insurance, I was still devastated !
Thank you everyone for your support. It is nice to know there are people out there crossing their fingers and saying a prayer for John and I, lord knows we need all the love and luck we can get right now. It is also nice to hear everyone ask the same question I have been asking the last two days "what is wrong with this guy?" It is sick that someone is willing to come into someone's home and take their symbols of eternal love and marriage for their own greedy little self. I was nice to these people, I fed them and gave them drinks and offered to help them in any way I could and this is how one of them decided that my hospitality and kindness should be repaid? It makes me lose a lot of faith in man kind. I don't want to be suspicous of everyone, but when things like this happen it's hard not to be. Anyways, we have not heard from the detective who is working on our case yet. We called tonight to inquire what is happening, but by the time we called there was nobody left in the office, so we just left a voice mail. Hopefully they will call us tomorrow and fill us in on what has transpired thus far. We found out some disheartening news tonight though. The insurance my husband bought with my engagement ring does not cover theft and our renters insurance will only pay $500 towards the cost of jewelery that is stolen. That means if the police don't recover our rings we will be losing over $12,000. That $500 will only cover the cost of my wedding band for heaven's sake. Hopefully somehow things will work out and our rings will be returned to us. Otherwise I guess we are just really screwed. I am trying to think positively though, but that is hard to do sometimes. -Taryn-
What a bastard. It's so hard to trust anyone these days. I hope you get your rings back, and someone beats the crap out of the guy that took them.
Awww Taryn I don't know what to say, I could scream, lets hope the police find this man.
It certainly couldn't do any harm checking the pawn shops, especially with the insurance situation..... {{{{hugs}}}}}}
Taryn,
I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know how you feel. I was robbed once and had many sentimental pieces of jewelry stolen. It was heart breaking. And I just recently had jewelry stolen from my locker at work. It's a very upsetting thing to happen. You feel sad, angry, viloated!!!
I hope your items are returned to you and John.
XOXOXOXXOOX
That really sux!
There are a lot of us here. I would be willing to throw a few bucks into a pot. If we all do it, I don't think it would add up to 12K, but at least you and your hubby could get new wedding bands.
Steve
Taryn,
I'm so sorry this happened to you! :( I think it's the sense of violation, and the loss of something of sentimental value that is the worst! Even if the jewelry is replaced, it's just not the same. :(
I had a similar experience a few years ago where 2 of my sapphire rings disappeared after we had our carpet cleaned. I didn't notice it for several weeks, so couldn't be sure enough to call them on it, but I know that's what happened. They weren't particularly valuable, but had a lot of sentiment attached. One was made for me by my mom on my 16th birthday, and she had given me the other one for Christmas.
Keep us posted through Steve if we can at least help with some sort of replacement.
Kim
Any word on them catching the guy? That's such an awfull thing to happen, especially when it was jewelry with such sentimental value not to mention monetary value. Maybe they can be recovered- Best of luck.
Sorry I have been MIA the last few days. I had to go up to New Hampshire and look for a place to live. Anyways, I still haven't heard anything. We called the police yesterday and left a message for the cop working on our case, but he hasn't called back yet. The suspense is killing me and I have to admit that every day that goes by I lose a little more faith that my rings will be returned to me. :( John is my hope and optimism for me, he still thinks they will catch the guy and retrieve our rings, I hope he is right. We are going to swing by Navy Legal today though and see what we need to do and who will pay for this if the rings are not found. No worries. I know someone whether it be the Navy or the moving co. will probably have to pay for this, just not our insurance co. since they are CHEAP. I appreciate the offer of the donations though Steve. That just proves to me and everyone else all the more that the people on this board truly are the most amazing, kind hearted human beings. Anyways, I'll keep you all updated if anything of any interest happens. Thank you so much to everyone that took the time to respond. It means more to me than you can even imagine. I thrive off of other people's optimism. Thank you, thank you, thank you. -Taryn-
