Question:
I have been doing UV for about 1 1/2 yrs now. I stopped from beginning of Sept 05, and started again the beginning of April 06. The first round I did last year, I came home a little tired for the first week or two, then did fine. This time around, I am totally exhausted. I do uv about 2pm and come home and sleep for the rest of the night all the way through. And the other thing is that the smell of the ?radiation is really bothering me. It seems that nobody else around me can smell it, but I can and it's strong. (The only way I can describe it is as if it's kinda like a sweet iron smell) I asked the R.N. about the exhaustion, but he says it's the first time anybody in 10+ years anybody ever complained about it. I did some research online about it, and it has been reported, but rarely. My question is, Is anybody else having these issues also? ~Or am I just going nuts? Let me know what you think.
Thank you guys for always being there,
Rock On!

Hi there. A friend of mine (Kim Patton - Portland Group Leader) forwarded me your post.
I have had both UVB and PUVA treatments. Which one are you on? I DID have PUVA for years and I DID have an awful smell every time. It would start about 30 minutes after I would take the little green "runt" pills and would last until the next day.
Are you also on PUVA, and is your experience similar? If it is, I would love to hug you. I've told our group for the past 3 years that I was bound and determined to find someone else that smelled that SMELL!!!
Kris
I have had the same sensation. I felt I smelled like I'd been BBQ'd.

I hate that smell!!!! I was doing uvb years ago. I was getting burnt from it and my dr insisted that I keep doing it or I was going to get worse. I was getting worse because I was burning. The last time i went to a different derm and I walked in and smelled that smell. I almost threw up. You couldn't pay me a million dollars to ever get in another light box. You are not nuts! I hate that smell so very much!!!!!!
