Question:

We all have good and bad memories. What is a good memory from your childhood that you will not ever forget (or have not forgoton)?
I don't think I will ever forget my "Sunday dinners", when my family gets together and we all eat together, share news of the week and celebrate different celebrations. I get to hear stories that my grandfather tells and memories that my mom & uncle share from growing up.

That is a wonderful thing to remember, Nemo.......SUNDAY DINNERS!
The most amazing Sunday dinners that I remember is when my DH and I were in our early years of marriage and they were held at his parents' house. All of his family including children. One way to really get to know the in-laws and appreciate them. This all occured in Houston and lasted until we were transferred to Dallas.
The meals were wonderful and old fashioned. Every Sunday you could count on fried chicken, mashed potatoes, blackeyed peas, sweet tea and peach cobbler. One of my sweet little girls cut her teeth on a green onion.
Sure miss those folks and the ones that have passed on. **sigh**

I would get a big old empty mayonnaise jar and nail holes into the lid of it and I'd spend all day in my backyeard catching all sorts of bugs to put in the jar. I'd decorate it with leaves and twigs. I'd search under wood and stumps and under leaves of the bushes to find all sorts of insects. I could spend hours just watching them. Eventually, I'd let them out... only to clean out the jar once again to find other kinds of bugs. I was fascinated watching these creatures.
When I would put the jar on the kitchen table to continue watching them... mom wasn't too thrilled with my fascination with insects.
Still... the thoughts about it, bring back lots of neat memories.
Blessings,
Joe

I'd spend my summer vacations at our farm house. Me, my sister & a few cousins of mine would climb trees, swim, play tons of games on the fields. We had dogs, cats, horses, cows, bunnies & some snakes lurking around on our farm house. Though we were very young, we'd ride the tractor there, with supervision of course... We also did lot's of crazy things.
It was so much fun. :) I'll never forget that. Oh how I long for those days............but they'll never come back...

I remember rock collecting. I had a huge collection..and once a week I'd dump them all into my mother's just cleaned bathtub and announce that I was giving my rocks a bath and couldn't be bothered to do anything else.... My family thought I was nuts.
I did this til I was about 9...
My godmother, who was also our neighbor told me that by digging up rocks I was letting the air out of the world and even I knew back then that loosing air was bad. But, I didn't believe her...
So, I sat on the front porch and waited for my Dad to get home, he pulled up and I ran out and asked him if I pulled up rocks if I was letting the air out, and to my dismay, he agreed that it did and said I had better put the rocks back, or I'd be in trouble.
To this day my Godmother tells this story to every boyfriend I've ever dated.... Oye.
It's funny, but I feel so stupid now, lol.
Anywho.... goodtimes, me and my rocks.

My best memory of childhood? I guess I have two.
1. Spending MOST of my time on stage (It kept me out of the house)
2. Growing out of my childhood.

1 Attachment(s) My best childhood memory was when my brother and I caught about 100 fireflies (lightning bugs) and let them loose in the house. You should have heard my Mom scream when she woke up in the middle of the night and saw them flying all around her room.
Have a great day!

Some of my best memories growing up was that the day school got out, my mother, sister and I went up to the Adriodacks mountains where we lived all summer long in a tent on a beautiful lake. The place had sandy beaches, alot of fishing avaible, an amusement park, minuture golf course, hiking trails and a store/dance area for local Saturday night round and square dancing and Sunday afternoon rollar skating. When I turned 12, we actually built our own cabin up there and moved over to that, instead of the tent. We never returned to town till the day before school started. This went on for me from the time I was 7 months old, till I got married at age 20---even then the first summer Don and I were married we lived up at the lake in my Aunt and Uncle's camping trailor. I started working up there durning the summers at age 10 by getting a nickle for every pail ful of cigerette butts picked up off the beach at the end of the day!
Great memories of a special place!
Sandy
