I Need Advice.....Pleeaassee!!!!
Question:

Ok, I don't wanna sound superfical or anything but my face is starting to get p all over. It's spreading like wild fire! I came home today and cried. I cannot have this on my face because I can lose the role I fought so hard to get.
I have an apt with my specialist next week to start uv again, but what can I do till then?????? I have tried facial moisturizers, but they don't work, and I don't want to put my greasy ointments on my face. Any sugestions???
Thx,

Talk to your Dr. about Elidel. It is very effective on the face and comes in a cream that rubs right in.

Until you are able to get it under control, there is an excellent makeup available (I'm sure there are others too, but I'm familiar with this one) that really covers up. Here's a link to their webpage: http://www.dermablend.com/. You can find it in the cosmetics departments of some of the major department stores. Hope that helps, and that you can make it disappear quickly.

for me when I have a flare going on my face I use some stuff from St. Ives. First an apricot facial scrub. It helps to get rid fo the flakes and the gunk that hides in my pores. Then there is a mud mask that they have which cools the skin. And if I still have patience enough I use a peel that they have. After all of that is said and done I use a non greasy lotion on ym face before I apply my makeup. If you use foundation it will hide the redness. I would advise though that if you do this, do it at least an hour or longer before you apply make up to give your skin time to absorb the lotion and your skin to settle a bit after the scrub. the mud mask will make you look like a smurf for awhile. It works for me at least plus my pores had never looked better...LOL :D

I thought about Elidil, but I have heard that it is linked to causing cancer (and I had a cancer scare early last year) But I hear it works for people, so I will talk with my dr and go from there.
As for the makeup, THANK YOU!!!!! I didn't know about that before. I am worried that my director will see it this weekend and flip out because she's psychotic.
Talk to you guys soon. Thanks again.

If you're really serious you might want to consider a systemic or biologic.

I sorry to hear that your psoriasis has spread to your face. :( Facial psoriasis is public enemy number one as far as I'm concerned.
Since your psoriasis is spreading "spreading like wild fire" I cannot help but wonder if there's something else going on. Stress sometimes causes my psoriasis to flare. As you under any unusual stress at the moment? Also, more then a few people have posted here that either their psoriasis or their child's psoriasis was triggered by some sort of infection. (Just about any infection can trigger psoriasis by strep is the usual culprut.) To further complicate things, many of these same people have reported that the psoriasis outbreak is often the only sign that they have an infection because they are asymptomatic for the underlying infection. (I.E., They didn't have a sore throat or fever in the case of strep.) To further complicate things, they also report that their psoriasis (or their child's psoriasis) won't respond to treatment until the underlying infection is taken care. Based on their experiences, you might want to seriously consider getting a strep test. Insist on a culture, because the so-called "quick test" is often unreliable. Some people have reported that a blood test, called an ASO blood test, is often the only way to confirm that they have strep. Here's the links to some previous discussions:

ROck On! Elidel (click here or here) and Protopic (click here or here) are often prescribed to treat psoriasis on places like the face and genitals. (Elidel is a cream and Protopic is an ointment.) Some people find that one works better then the other. Some people report that they have to alternate between the two medications and some people have reported that both Elidel and Protopic haven't worked for them. :( is an ointment. They're both approved for eczema but are often prescribed for psoriasis. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, Elidel (and Protopic) received a "black box" warning from the FDA because of concerns about cancer. Since both Elidel and Protopic are approved for eczema, here's a link to a link to the National Eczema Foundation's Statement Concerning the Use of Protopic and Elidel.
Here's a link to a very informative thread (circa 2004) about makeup and psoriasis: .
I hope this helps.
Feel better!

Actress,,,,before you spend a lot of money on Dermablend,,,,see if you can get some samples to try.
I spent over $100.00 and could not use it. The store did give me a refund.
It felt like something thick and "goopy" on my face and made me sweat. The cleaner did not remove it very good. While some may like it,,,it was not for me and very expensive.

Hey all. Hope all is well, and everybody had a good weekend. As for me, I survived the weekend from hell with the director. She's such a mega witch. So yeah, I guess I have been stressing more lately. She always makes me feel that I am no good enough. But when I got off stage sat night, my producer approched me and explained that he is seeing the tension between us, and let me know that he thinks I am doing very well, and as for the roll I currently have, he had it written for me especially. (That really makes me feel good)
As for any infections lately......the only things I can recall is bronchitis about a month ago followed by my asthma acting up, but I blame the mega witch for making me reherse a song, and at the end, saying "do it again, only better."
I am glad I have family like you all to go to for advise. You guys are truly my friends.
Rock On!!!

a- one word for a kinda quick fix - tanning. Start now. If you are lite skinned, start off slow. I do not tend to burn, ocassionally I will. I go to the tanning bed 3x week for 15-20 minutes. It helps UNBELEIVABLY-really, it does. There are several of us who maintain with either home remedy tanning salons, or prescribed lite therapy. Either way, get to tanning until you can come up with something medically. It is a quick fix........Good Luck, Jenna

Oh yeah, I am starting my uv treatments again this week, and am going to ask my dr for an rx for a portable unit. (so I can use it at home, or in my dressing room) I can't wait to start it again.
Jennab711 ~ You go to a tanning bed 3X week? Are you making your ins co pick up the tab???? It helps alot when they are paying for treatments. I feel alitle guilty about this, but......last year three months before my wedding, I was going to uv 3X week becase of my outbreak and I wanted to make sure it was gone for my special day. Well.......I knew we were going to dash off to oahu for a week after the wedding, so I made sure I worn strapless tops for tx because my dress was strapless. I don't know, just had to get that off by concious.
Anyway, if your ins co is not paying for tx, make sure they start.
Have a good day everybody,
Rock On!
