Hi Rich,
I don't know what insurance you have but I would double check. I have an appointment on the 7th of Sept.
Hang in there, hope you are feeling better.

Why aren't they covering it?? There has to be a reason. When ever a claim is denied they must provide the reason why, if they don't or can't then the claim has to be paid.
Perhaps your insurance requires a referral from a primary care physician? If this is the case and you did not get the referral first they can deny the claim, but you may be able to get it covered retroactively.
You may need to get a letter of medical necessity from both your primary and your rheumy to send to the insurance for an appeal. If they approve it they you should have no further problems, but you would want to confirm and get a written letter stating it is covered.
If you have PA then a Rheumy is necessary! If you don't know where to begin then call the NPF and ask them what you can do!

Hi Rich,
It's all worth fighting for, if you are qualified for this doctor's visit.
If we let these insurance companies do what they want, we would never get a refund or any kind of payment. We pay for this and it's your money they are messing with and you need your money.
Don't give up!

These insurance cos. suck, especially for P, they have no clue what it is like, its just business for them.
Rich, I had to get my certificate of coverage and pound my insurance co and find every nook and cranny to get good care. I also had to file a grievance which got some action too.
It is very difficult to take the time out of the day and ask and re ask the insurance people and the docs about coverage, but it does work.
I hope that your issues become resolved. P is enough as a physical and mental burden. Then throw in the financial with it to. I don't know what to say...just keep fighting.

Thats great Rich. No lie rich, I think they sometimes do stuff like this on purpose just to get you to pay. Business is bad sometimes, I know some of them are out to get your $$$, not all of them...but some of them. I think thats true with anything in life. Be sure to get your certificate of coverage and ask a lot of questions. I once had a test done and the doc sent me to an out of network lab. Why the doc did that I don't know, but I had to pay a $100 bill or something like that. If he had sent it to the other lab it would have been no expense. Now, anytime I have appointments or referals I always ask the "is it going to be covered" this way question.
I'm glad it got covered....way to go. You win again. I shouldn't have to say it that way, but, I've seen to much of the insurance hooligans to believe that they are 100% honest about everything.

I'm sorry about all that Rich. I hope you can get it figured out soon. You most definitely deserve it. All my best to you...

I've actually had the opposite happen, where the doctors are billing me even though insurance paid. I consider myself lucky that my insurance has never given me a problem and even has supported me against the doctors in a few instances that it was necessary.
Great to hear it was just a simple screw up that they fixed!

It's unfortunate but anymore these days you have to babysit people about doing their jobs....and if you never said anything they would of just let it be wrong. :(
good for you Rich. we've gotta always look out for #1
