I think it has been a pretty nice farewell to the Bronx Bombers.
We've sent Boston, Atlanta, and San Diego packing too.
I agree Michael, CWS SLC and it's gonna come down to pitching. If St. Louis Pitches Well CWS will have a tough time. If Carpenter and the gang don't do well, I think CWS will take it.

Both of those players had opportunitys to finsh off the Angels but underperformed. and the yanks barely squeeked in with the Div. title as well.
I don't think Joe will go. Not his fault.
As a life long Yankee fan, I don't like the buying of aging stars instead of developing the farm. The core of this championship run from 1996 to now has been the home grown players-the real Yankee fans wanted to see the home grown guys in there the last few years instead of A R, Randy, etc.
We would have loved to give up a couple of titles now to watch, Soriano, Mike Lowell, David Delucci, Juan Rivera, Nick Johnson, Jon Lieber develop along side Andy Pettite.
That being said, the 1998 Yankee team will stand as one of the very greatest of all time-long after we recall that the Arizona Diamond backs won the 2001 Series. The Yanks won three ws in a row and lost the 4th in a row in the bottom of the ninth of the seventh game- not bad.
More importantly, the players themselves were amongst the clossest knit teams. The team that had Scott Brosius and Andy Pettite use to do Bible readings together and Bernie Williams, Posada, and Ramiro Mendoza used to request triple rooms togethet on the road.
you want class, how about MARIANO RIVERA. That's class. That's a God loving soul if I ever saw one.
