Juanita discussed her mother's heart problems in one of the hurricane threads. Her mom is 91 and needs to have her aortic heart valve replaced. Here's the links to her posts:
.
As I mentioned in my reponse to one of Juanita's posts, my dad had his aortic heart valve replaced on the first anniversary of 9/11. (My dad was younger then Juanita's mom by about 10 years when he had his operation.) It's a very risky operation and is followed by a very long and difficult recovery process. My heart goes out to Juanita, her mom and the rest of their family. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

When I talked to Juanita yesterday, she said that her Mom did not want to have the surgery.
So, I don't know if she has changed her mind.
Let "His will" be done!
View this time as a blessing. "Time" becomes more precious, the older we get!

1 Attachment(s) Dear Friends,
I cannot tell you how much your messages have meant to me. I am back for a short while to attend to things before making another trip to be with Mom.
I know you all have special names for your Mothers whether it be Mother, Mom or Mama....and all are special and I call mine all of these.
Our visit finally happened after the exodus returned after Rita, the hurricane. The prognosis was aortic valve stenosis with the valve showing only a pin point opening. Each time a smothering happens it closes further. Trying to make a decision for an operation we had to do a heart cath to show how the heart was functioning. It was a surprise to us to find that she has three bad arteries. One 100% closed, one 90% and one 60%. She probably would survive an operation but at her age healing would be poor. She chose not to have surgery and to live out her few remaining days. She is in a nursing home now.
Again, your messages will be read and re-read. Such a comfort to me. Thank you and God Bless you all,
Hugs,
Juanita
I will try to post Mother on her birthday last year.
Awww Juanita, I'm sorry that she cant just have the surgery and get better, but I'm sure the right choice was made. Enjoy the time you have with her. Maybe record a few of her famous stories. Share all the love, tears, and laughter that you can. You will cherish those memories forever. I miss my mom so much, but I am able to look back at a abundance of shared love and memories. My prayers are with you and your family. She looks like such a warm, loving person.
Love and prayers,
Patty
Juanita,
What a lovely lady your mom is. I have to say that if I were her I would have made the same choice. I will keep you and her in my prayers.
Hugs to you,
Polly
