I hope that Ali, Krista, Hollis, Jenn, Brett and everyone else who lives in South Florida were spared the brunt of the storm!
It's now heading towards the panhandle. Oh, No! Not again! They've been through a lot in the last year or so! :(

I think this storm will get worse if it follows the predicted path. When they come across this way,,,several states get too much rain and wind.
I sure hope it dissipates.

Stay safe, Pam! "Coach"
I have a friend who is a captain of a huge yacht (Rich and famous type boat). They took it out to sea in the storm to keep it from getting beat up at the dock. That would be terrifying to me. He said "Nah, Im used to skippering fishing boats in Alaska seas in the winter. It can't be as bad as that." OMG!!
He's NUTS! I pray he will be safe out there.

Hang on didn't they say that storm was going through Fort Lauderdale? We were on a tropical storm watch here in Key Largo and certainly didn't expect the storm to turn the way it did. These hurricanes are SO unpredictable! Also, normally the south side of the storm is the weakest, not so with Katrina.
All that said, it wasn't that bad. We woke at 12:30 am to howling wind and buckets of rain. The power went out shortly after and we just got it back on a few minutes ago. There's little structural damage down here, but there are plenty of trees down.
I feel sorry for the lower keys, they got their feel of it this morning and they didn't even have any warnings posted.
I hope everyone in Miami is okay!

alli,
Glad you made it through that ok. Good to here you got your power back. Last year during Charley, we lost our power for 5 days. We were lucky because some people were weeks without power. We are supposed to get a lot of rain this weekend as it heads up the gulf.

Hi all:
Thanks for the concern. We have power back at our house. Everything is a mess, flooded, downed trees (we couldn't drive out of our development this morning  ), but as Steve said, we are safe and dry. Hope everyone else is o.k. Pam... hold on!
Just another day in paradise

Wow, Krista! That does NOT look like fun! Sounds like a good weekend to just hang out inside and relax. Glad you checked in and are ok. Hope to hear from the rest of the FL gang soon.

We got a direct here in Miami...thank god it was just a category one when it landed. We had no power for 12 hours, but that's nothing since most of my neighborhood either just got it back today or still has no power. We have down trees all over the place and some are huge oak trees.
Anyone in the path of this hurricane needs to get far far away because it's as big as (maybe bigger) Andrew was in the early '90s. Stay safe!
