Lies, lies, & more lies.
Question:

Has anyone ever made up a lie about your p? I have gotten SO tired of telling people, "what happened" to my elbows, I've taken up creating stories, no adventures, if you will. Adventures involving motorcycles, volcanoes, hazardous chemicals...any one else have fun with strangers or is it just my sick, twisted sense of humor?

Answers:

Not with p, but other things. I had a bruise on my arm and told a guy that my husband twisted it. :D My husband was standing there and got a smug look on his face as if to say, I'd do it again. We laughed and told the guy the truth.
I'm a "little" mischievous sometimes. ;) Another time when I had a bunion surgery, I said my husband stepped on my foot and broke it. Again, he laughed. He wouldn't hurt me, he just laughs at my craziness. Better to laugh than cry.

Once years ago, I told a guy I had been in a motorcylcle accident. My elbows and forearms were really raw. He seemed to understand road rash, but not P. I also used to tells boys in college I had leprosy. And when I came back to school after 3 weeks of Goeckerman, a guy asked how I's gotten such a nice tan and I told him I had been to Spain, and then while he was still standing there I told another guy I'd been to the Carribean, and the next guy I told Hawaii. AND, I made sure to tell all the boys that the tan was ALL OVER and I had no tan lines and no, they couldn't check.

Yeah, I guess I lie. I'm just too tired to give a biology class to everyone that asks about it. I build & show hot rods & attend a lot of shows outside. Tee shirts are the norm. The general opinion is that I have welding burns on my arms. I learned a long time ago if I mention auto-immune disorder most people jump to the wrong conclusion.

Answers:

I always tell people the truth about my P, the alternatives sound worse to me. I save my lies for how much something cost that I "just couldn't live without"!! LOL

I'd rather not lie, either... actually, I should say I've never thought about lying about it...
My psoriasis is hidden from the world, anyways... unless I take off my shirt and sox!

1 Attachment(s) Ha Ha,,, I've never lied about my "P" but once when my husband & I were in an accident & were hospitalized, and our Doctor was a comedian, he put us in a double bed room. Well, the nurse being shocked that we were in the same room didn't realize that our last name was the same & she asked if we knew eachother... Well, my darling husband being a comedian himself quickly told her that we met eachother in the elevator... LOL THAT went throughout
the hospital & everyone's mouth dropped open. lol
Gotta have some fun while you're hospitalized..... :) :) :)

Helen,
That sounds like something I would do. ;)

Of course I lie. It's easier to explain a burn than psoriasis. I don't feel like giving a biology lesson all the time either. I just get asked SO much, I get tired of giving the whole disease definition and causes and treatments all the time.

I always wear shorts down here - you have to because of weather....
I was in the supermarket and one of my co-workers saw me and asked, "what the hell happened to your legs???"
I just smiled and said that it was "rug burn"

I could say I got burned from Chem class with some chemicals, but how would I explain how it up my leg and around my back?
Lying about my p isn't me, but pretending to be from another country and getting some sap to believe me is a blast! :D

Answers:

I used to get made fun of. So I would say I had oatmeal in my hair. Or the small plaques were cig burns. I always cried at the end of the day, but hey!

I pretended I had a communicable disease (I can't recall what I said it was) once to get some people out of a hot tub. They were acting inapropriatly at a public/family pool area (practically having sex) in front of my friend and I and a family that had a young child. So my friend started asking me how my disease was doing and she said "isn't that contagious?" and they were out of that jacuzzi and out the door before you could blink. It was priceless and everyone at the pool had a good laugh about it. I usually tell people I have P though. That was the only occasion that I bluffed a bit. :D -Taryn-

I've never lied about the P, but I have been tempted to....
Quinn, if your going to use the chemical burn excuse, you can always add that you went to class wearing only a speedo......

truth.

Hi
In fact , we lie because we don't want to admit we have it , we don't accept it , and we don't want others to know we have a visible disease that has no cure.
So , we cover it up .
That's total normal .
I do that all the time . It's so hard for me to deal with my disease , Imagine having to let others know?
But I agree that it's much better if we are honest , and simply explain what it is , it's not our fault, it's not contagious , and we have to deal with it .
We'll actually educate somebody else and make our contribution to the awareness.
I'll try to do this next time someone asks about it
See you
