SUPPORT
Question:

Tomorrow will be the first day I administer Chemotherapy on my own. The one IV team nurse that the hospital kept on after they demolished the team has sadly retired. A few of us were asked to take the chemo course. I am a little nervous because she has always been around to answer many of our questions. One course as you know, does not make an expert out of you. I know though that I will be fine, there are many others I can lean on for support.
What does this have to do with psoriasis you ask? Well it has absolutely nothing to do with psoriasis per say, just that I am always there for my patients especially my cancer patients who choose this very difficult treatment. I do not take this lightly. These drugs are powerful! I think these are some of the most courageous individuals I get to meet everyday.
It is with this same passion that I give support to those of you who are left with absolutely no choice but in taking some of the many systemics and biologics out there that are just as powerful. I know that these are not very easy decisions to make and you all have a very special place in my heart.

Oh thanks you guys!!! Like I said I know I will be just fine. I am just used to having Dolores around. I am on duty tomorrow with other powerful nurses and we are all in the same boat. We will all take a patient each and help support each other. I am usually the one whom they come to for help. I have done this before.
It is the look of desperation on these patients faces that really gets to me. Sometimes, I leave the room and go into the bathroom to cry. They usually get one chemo drug after the other and then go home. They come in every three to four weeks. You become so attached to them. I just love them.
