Hey Brad I'm with you...gonna watch it...we never watch commercial TV...well can't say ever never.......I like maybe two or three shows but the rest we watch are movies, loved Carnivale (HBO series) and "LOST"....
but this one looks good for 1/2 hour watching....how much can be said in that time limit tho? on P? hope we don't cringe too much over there puns :p

Answers:

WOW ... that's fantastic!! I don't watch a lot of TV, either, but will try to catch this.
Wonder if Jerry Stiller has p, in "real life" (the article may have mentioned that and I missed it ... ) He's Ben Stiller's father, right??

Answers:

I'm going to contact our local CBS station...maybe we can use this as an opportunity to provide some local coverage about psoriasis and our support group - and tie it in with the show on the evening news or something. Worth a shot anyway.
Thanks for the "heads up" Brad!

Hey, everybody....
It's on TONIGHT (Wednesday, not Thursday).
This is from the cbs website:

Former Queens resident myself here. Joe, I think you said you were from College Point? Queen of Corona here...if I remember right in the intro to that show ( or older shows), is a shot of the Lemon Ice King.
Anyway, that is a cute show and I will be sure to watch...in between paint drying.

OK. I was highly disappointed. The only "funny" part to me was his naming the different "side effects" of taking the medication.
Slipping someone else medication that is being used in a clinical study is not only stupid, but seems criminal to me. I didn't find that funny at all. It never came to a positive resolution - what he did was wrong, why it was wrong, he wasn't sorry for it, etc.
Not only should psoriasis patients be disappointed in how it was portrayed, but anyone involved in a clincal study (in any way and not just with psoriasis - researcher, doctor, patient) should be mortified.
I wonder how the NPF feels about this episode. I have only watched it once so far. I taped it so I will watch it again and see how I feel about it later....
Kevin
P.S. The television interview never panned out, either. When I didn't receive a phone call, I called the journalist back (about 4:00 PM). She said that someone was supposed to call me and promised they would call. I never heard any more. After watching the episode, it's probably best - they probably wouldn't want to air how I thought about it.

Well I missed like the first couple of minutes but I did see the part where he says he has psoriasis "downtown".
1st, I guess for one it is a comedy so you have to keep that in mind.
2nd, I wonder if Stiller actually has psoriasis. I thought the reaction by the other guy going "oooohhhhh" when stiller said he had psoriasis was Ok. It's still a heartbreak disease.
3rd, I thought that the portrayl of trying the meds out on someone else to determine the side effects does make a point. That it seems that many of our psoriasis meds have serious side effects and although I don't think we want to try them out on others, seems like when we get a new treatment we really want to know what others have experienced, I see that on the board all the time. P meds are tough.
4th, they're in the business of entertaining and to expect them to do an entire show about psoriasis I think would be boring to the general public, however, the mention of it may be of some help.
Last, I think that having a "main character" have it does do some good showing that many around us may have the condition.
I guess i tried to make the best out of what they had. I think Kevin has some good points about the prescription issues. I think in the environment of comedy however, that persons would not look at Stillers actions and consider them Ok, correct, or try it themselves.

I go along with what Kevin said...
I was very disappointed in how Psoriasis was portrayed.
Although, it is only 1/2 hour comedy program & I really didn't expect any more from it regarding Psoriasis, also, I did not appreciate him trying it out on someone else to see what side effects if any she got from it. If a person didn't know anything about Psoriasis, they probably didn't realize the effect of Psoriasis or what it is. I don't think it really told us anything about Psoriasis... :(
I'm glad I had taped it, cause if I had missed watching American Idol to watch it, I would have screamed...
That's just my opinion of it..........

I think that it was vague...For someone who did not know what P was, they did not learn anything. There should have been some type of service advisement at the end of the show...To explain P and what its suffers have to go through. So I think that CBS has a long way to go with this...But we can help...Everyone it is now intorduced to P on this show, lets bug them to go further with it. Maybe have him go to a meeting, Have him maybe start light sessions...There could be a ton of laughs with a few things like that. I can see this going far. Tell your stories...I am sending Jessies to them.

I was disapppointed as well. Regardless, thanks for letting us know about it Brad. I thought it was in very poor taste for the writers to have Stiller's charactor give someone medication unbeknownst to that person. making fun of a dangerous action isn't humor to me.
It was the only time I've ever seen that show. I wouldn't watch it again. I thought it was weak. I did like seeing The Incredible Hulk was working.
