Question:
Hello all,
SB 913 is the Biologics bill being sponsored by California State Senator Joe Simitian. It is now moving into the California State Senate Appropriations Committee and will be heard Monday, May 16. This is a HUGE deal!
Please fax or email a letter to your State Senator to let them know you support this legislation. Please specify that you have PA and how long, and explain how biologics have improved your life. Also, if you've had any difficulties obtaining approval from your insurance company, PLEASE explain that.
You can also call either/or their district office or Sacramento office. Immediately identify that you are a constituent, provide your address and tell them that you are strongly in support of SB913. Then you can send a fax or email.
Thank you!!!

That's wonderful news, Meghan! :) Congratulations! I know that you had no small part in getting this moved forward. ;) Is there anything that those of us in other states or without pa can do to help?
Anyone in California can call or write their state Senator to simply express their support for this bill (SB913). The bill does not contain any mention of psoriasis alone, but perhaps in the future it could be amended.
Unfortunately, it's difficult enough to even beg for PA coverage. They added some language for the state MediCal program saying only a drug approved by the FDA (ie only Enbrel) can be used for treating a disease (ie PA).
I know alot of us haven't responded to Enbrel and are on Remicade or Humira, so let's get those biologics pushed through!
Thank you!!
Also to your other question about other states:
I don't think calls from outside the state will help.
If you're asking if there's anything you can do for your own state, then it sounds like you're ready to start an Advocacy group! ;)
If people are interested, I can start a thread on how my Northern California Arthritis Foundation group does Advocacy. I'd be happy to answer questions, etc.
Letters away, still live in this state for now so might as well.
