Question:
Hi,
My daughter is graduating from college this weekend ( yeay ) and I ordered a cake for her with " congratulations " written on it....seems so lame after all her hard work.
I thought of " you owe eleventy billion dollars in loan bills " but I guess this isn't the time for that lol.
Any ideas of what I could put on it? She's a music major.

Leave it blank and let everyone else write ther own congradulation on the cake. You can hand out 3 or 4 different pipets with different color cake icing and let everyone have a go at it.

Sounds like you have the cake under control-----now for the present----we gave our sons luggage so they could leave home!!!!! :D :D :D They did, eventually!
I'm not sure what I'd put on top of it, but I think if you planted a fake fingertip in it you'd be sure to get some mileage out of that. Just be sure to remember who's getting the piece with the plant in it.
I put a baby ruth bar in the punch bowl at our senior prom....gotta have fun.

I am actually giving her a book....maybe I could slip a one way bus ticket in there.... ;)

Karen, it is hard to let go. I think it would be harder with a girl.
Our youngest stayed around so long that we actually went out and rented an apartment, paid 3 months rent, gave him the key and told him that was where he was going to live. :p :p ;) Sounds like a joke but we really did that. He had it too easy at home, laundry done, meals cooked, etc.

You've got some great ideas for the cake. It sounds like you all will have a great time. The trolley idea is super. Having my one and only child a girl too, I remember all to well about raising and trying to let go----we have alot in common with that. Luckily she won't be too far away and she'll have her Aunt there, and I'm sure you'll be down there alot. Have a fanatic party for her this weekend and enjoy the graduation, bring some kleenex and I'll be thinking of you all!!!

Karen, I just came from my daughters new apartment...well actually it is a house she is renting with some friends. Two girls and a guy; sort of like a "Three's Company" theme. They also have two HUGE dogs, so I think she will be pretty safe there. She graduated from college last year and is finally making it out of the house. It is a bittersweet :( :) time for us but I could not be happier or more excited for her. The place looks great and they are really turning it into a home for themselves. These are friends she made at the radio station she works for. BTW, she got to meet JLo today and was very excited and said that she is just "stunning".
For the cake you may want to include something NYC on it like maybe a small decoration of the Empire State Building. Something for her to look forward to.

I'm excited for her. She's been out of the house for three years now but has had help from us. Her education has been fabulous & hopefully we have raised her well enough that she can be self sufficient.

I promise to post a pic of what was LEFT of the cake this weekend. I have had company since last Thursday and they are staying till Saturday.. :eek: .
The graduation was incredible and the parties that have followed too!
I'M TIRED! & I miss reading and participating on the boards, sneaking into chat now....LOL
