Question:
I post this to the psoriasis board as this will be an interresting case. Most likely the DA has not ties to psoriasis but this may become a case of interrest for those having a difficult time with life. Psoriasis can EASILY make an individual have a difficult time with life. It is a disease that has no known cure, is visible, and tends to get worse when left untreated and sometimes even when it is treated.
It is early in the investigation, however, my fear is that typically one would sense foul play early on. News reports has suggested potential physical/mental reasons for the individuals disappearance.
I bring this to light as the man is a district attorney. In order to be a DA you need to have a JD which takes at least 7 years post high school. This individual also was a veteran of the job, not a young man anymore. Most likely the man did not have serious financial issues or at least had a job that should prevent that from occurring.
Quite honestly this investigation could go anywhere, however, just the suggestion that the individual could have a psychological reason for the dissapearance leads me to present this. Regardless of what you do or who you are, psychological assistance is available if you need it. Personally, working in law enforcement, the idea is to avoid it as we are to good for it or not bad enough to need it. Using psychological services does not mean your crazy. It is no different than seeing a derm for your P. The difference is that you can obviously see your P, you can't necessarily see your psychological issues.
So lets see where the DA ends up, my guess is he should have seen a shrink. Just a hunch, but then I've been wrong before. Hopefully he will be found OK, but being in LE, odds are that something bad has happened. Don't let it be you.
I was reading about that today at lunch. Weird. Let's hope for the best.
A neighbor down the road from us committed suicide 2 days ago. Why? We'll probably never know. Had a nice family, wife, kids, grandkids, decent job, nice house. Here's the kicker - he is one of six children, and of the six, three have now committed suicide. None of them left notes or explanations. The second one was a friend and co-worker of my husband. He always talked about his brother (the first one that took his life) and wondered how he could have done that to his mother and the rest of the family. Then he did the same thing. To this day we have no idea why. And now another brother. We are so sad, but part of me is angry that this family has to go through this yet again. So much help is available these days, WHY didn't he talk to someone about whatever problem he had?? My husband's best friend did the same thing 6 years ago. Again, no note or warning. He, my DH, and the other guy I mentioned used to hike together. We have a great photo of the 3 of them on a trail together. So hard to look at it and know that 2 of them are now gone, and by their own hand.

Thanks for the reply Sue, this post got moved over to conversations but I'm going change it's context and get one up on the Psoriasis side.
I've had a cousin be sucessful and another cousin try a few times. My biggest point to is quoting from your post "why didn't he talk to someone about whatever problem he had??".
The issue at hand here is that "affluent or everday" people are prone to this problem as well. Many of us believe that we are above this but under the stress of life, which could very well include or superinclude severe psoriasis or PA, we can succomb to this tragedy without the proper help.
My hunch on an aswer to your "why" question would be that many are to "above" or "better than" seeing a psychologist. Once it's done it is over there is no going back and talking about it later.
I can't imagine why this post got moved to fun and games...jeeze it sure isn't a topic for here...
But I agree with you two...the best advice is to talk...TALK! I THINK TOO MANY PEOPLE TEND TO HOLD THINGS IN WHERE IT FESTERS CAUSING MORE PROBLEMS ooops sorry for caps...there is nothing better than "GETTING IT OFF YOUR CHEST" even, if not a trained psychologist, maybe a minister, or good friend.....of course in the face of severe depression a psychiatrist is the obvious choice.
I read about the DA on AOL ...he had a brother a few years back that commited suicide....sad for the surviviors.....
now remember that I might be totally wrong on this but my initial impression of the incident suggests suicide. Obviously they look at all the angles but according to the news they are also looking at this one.....
from the news...
"Earlier this week, investigators subpoenaed Gricar's medical records. Though police have not gone through them thoroughly, Dixon said there is no evidence Gricar was ever treated for depression.
Gricar's brother, Roy, went missing for five days in May 1996. His body was found in the Great Miami River in central Ohio, and his death was ruled suicide by drowning."
When they moved the thread, they probably didn't read it.
There was a suicide in DH's family and we still don't know exactly why it happened. It still hurts to think that someone you know has done that.
