Here’s the scoop. I recently proposed an idea to our good friend, Robi that he seemed to like. The idea was for the two us to have a debate on social issues.
A real toe-to-toe, gloves off, verbal exchange.
We ask that no one post except the two of us and of course, the Webmaster.
------We are to abide by forum rules: No profanity. Keep it civil.---------
As ideas for things to debate, I submitted the following to Robi:
Here are a few things that I am AGAINST:
-The stupid BUSH crime syndicate
-Handguns for the masses
-Abortion becoming illegal again
-Drilling and logging on national wildlife preserves
-The Patriot Act
-Electorial College
-Televised Presidential Debates
-Outsourcing of America's jobs overseas
-Bush's plan for Social Security reform
-Pro-athelete's excessive salaries
-Florida
-Golf courses
-Platform shoes
Here are a few things that I am FOR:
-The Green Party in the White House
-Instant Run-off Ballots as the nation’s voting method.
-Legalized drugs
-Woman allowed to be priests
-All Priests allowed to get married
-The Flat Tax
-Nap time during the work day
-At least one non-cable news channel on TV that has no sponsors to answer to
-Roomy trousers with elastic waistbands
-A speedy reversal of the ever-widening gap between rich and poor.
Robi picked the last one, “A speedy reversal of the ever-widening gap between rich and poor” to launch our debate thread.
Robi also claims to have a strategy to close it and assures me that it is different than whatever strategy I have. How he knows that is beyond me.
Since Robi chose which topic to start our debate with, I think I’ll let him also start us off.
Our first debate is:
“The ever widening gap between rich and poor and a strategy to close it”
