Question:
Like Maurizio I have my suspicions of a few posters here who are not here just to give advice or seek help and comfort for P or PA.
Some people isolate themselves from those who could become friends and provide support and comfort to them because they are embarrassed by their skin condition.
To find a forum full of people who share your inner pain and your obvious visual pain, and don't judge you by the way you look, is a God send to many of us.
This doesn't necessarily mean that we wish to talk only about our physical and emotional problems tied to this disease. It doesn't mean that a person who chooses to keep conversation light and off topic is a phoney. The comfort that some of us find in the games and humorous threads here are a pleasant break from the reality of our disease.

And there are people who come here not for themselves, but for loved ones. My dh comes here, he doesn't have p, he comes here for information because he really doesn't understand how I feel or what I'm going thru. He has as much right to be here as I do, because he's my main source of support, he's with me everyday, he sees my skin. To sit there and say he doesn't belong here because he doesn't have P, is bull.
yep yep yep and i come here to give everyone a hard time . lol and mabe just make one person smile for a minute. xSx
1 Attachment(s) Welcome Topop,,,,boy you really caught on fast so new to the boards,,enjoy and have fun............... :D
Lottie and slowe,,,well said............ :)
Maybe this UFO can catch the phonies,,,,,,,,LOL
The conversations board was created because several people complained about the "off topic" discussions that were taking place with increasing frequency on the main psoriasis board. Unfortunately, this place has never been the same. There's nothing wrong with the people who come here to have a little fun. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same idea of "fun" and a small number of people seem to take great pleasure in spoiling things for the rest of us.
I've been here from the very beginning (for the record this board was created in September 2001). Back then the Board was moderated and EVERY post was screened before it was posted on the Board. That means that posts often didn't appear for 24 hours (longer on weekends and holidays) and that meant that people who were having serious problems (such as Brandy) didn't get answers for several days.
I would hate to see the Board go back to the way it was. That being said, however, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the NPF didn't decide to shut down the conversations board. Frankly, it's become more trouble then it's worth. The people who enjoy the conversations board need to think about that.
Just my $0.02.

are you referring to the poster that recommended acid for the P? I think that is why Maurizio was going to leave....we got rid of that one but unfortunately there will be more...
and the good news? Maurizio is back!
IF we weed out the phonies there wont be anyone left to post.
yep yep yep and i come here to give everyone a hard time . lol and mabe just make one person smile for a minute. xSx Not to worry, Joey. You're a breath of fresh air. You always go out of your way to make people laugh and that's precisely what the conversations board should be all about! :)
Mike
hi mike,
it was back like it was when it started. have my post still wouldn't be on here. (that 24 hrs thing). lol all

richard
LOL...TopOp,,,how do we know that you are not a phoney?????? Huh?
Well, I'm no phoney ,,,, I have p,,,, I try to be helpful and supportive,,, and I come here to laugh with Jooeeeey :p :p ;)
My P is almost gone because of enbrel....Does that mean I can't come here no more?? :( :D
I can't imagine WHY someone who didn't have psoriasis (or a loved one or friend with psoriasis) would post here. It wouldn't occur to me. In fact, I have had internet access for 8 or so years and until I got psoriasis it never ONCE crossed my mind, "Hey I'm bored on my debate board, maybe I'll find a psoriasis support board and start some crap." I suppose there COULD be oodles of people out there with a psoriasis fetish that love to be amongst our coolness.....hey anythings possible, LOL!

My name is j-girl...and I'm a crackaholic...I smoke crack...I live under a bridge...in a 4 by 5 cardboard box...anyone seen my children? :p
TopOp,
Your suspicions could very well be true. We've had a few weird posters who didn't appear to have P. And then there are those who like to duplicate themselves. So from time to time some postings seem strange.
Some people like to come into support groups where they know people are vunerable. It happens to be a common occurence. It's naive to think it doesn't happen.
Psoriasis is such a variable and unpredicatable disease, it's usually easy to pick out the phonies. It gets a little more complicated when actual P people come under different names for whatever reasons.
All in all, this site is pretty reliable. If you feel uncomfortable about someone you can just not have anything to do with that person or you can report the situation to the Webmaster.

...anyone seen my children? :p
Maybe Deb was right ???????
Maybe it's one of those Brittney spears things.....

Not to worry. Everyone who has posted here on your thread is genuine. Some of them are just having a little fun. Sally and Mike have made some good points.
