Time for the good times!
Question:

In Arizona the good weather is here. After a long, unusually rainy, cold winter the good weather is back! I've been running the solar heater trying to get my pool up to 75 or better so I can jump in and swim. Today is georgeous here. Blue skys and sunny and warm. We're barbequing and checking that pool temp. Can't wait to be able to come home from a long day of work and and grab a Corona and float on my raft.
Gosh, I love it here in Arizona!!!!

Answers:

LUCKY YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss Arizona!!!!!! :( :( :(
Where in AZ are you??

Answers:

I'm in North Peoria. Where did you live?

Answers:

Paradise Valley for a few years (off of Tatum), and then Scottsdale. Lived in AZ for a GLORIOUS 11 years ... love, love, LOVE that state!
No telling WHEN it'll be (consistently) warm enough here to get in the pool; keeps warming up but then cooling off again ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...

Answers:

My daughter lives in Paradise Valley. But I just got her a condo over here in Peoria. I need my baby close to me. I'm so happy about her moving back to the west side :)

Answers:

I can't believe I spent all those years in CT. This is truly paradise. I'm in Sierra Vista. I can't believe the sunrises, the skies, the mountain views, the temps, the sunsets, the people. I've died and gone to heaven.

Answers:

Glad you like it here, Annie. Yes it is paradise. I thank god everyday for the nerve to just pack up and move my whole family out here from the cold NE three years ago. Haven't regretted it for a day.
Well...maybe just on the one day in August when it hits 125!

Answers:

When it hits 125 where you are it's time to visit me. We have a more temperate climate down here.

Answers:

Yes!!!!
I love monsoon season!!!
Such drama!

Answers:

I've only heard about it but everyone seems to feel the same way that you do. Can I ask you a question about monsoon season. Although these rains come on with such drama, do you still have warm sunny days during those weeks?
Annie

Answers:

Yes, Annie. The day may begin like any other. Sunny and nice. Then it gets a little dark and the wind starts and you run out and move all the patio furnature in or up against the house. Then it just freakin POURS!
It's so cool!
And speaking of cool...monsoon season is humid and hot. The rain brings cool temps with it, so it's a nice break from the heat.

Answers:

Yes, "drama" describes it perfectly!!
Annie, it'll be a perfectly glorious day, not a cloud in the sky (and like Sue said, it does get humid during those months so the ol' "it's a dry heat" isn't always accurate), and then WHAMMO! Out of nowhere, it'll get dark, extremely windy, and rain cats & dogs. The lightning is spectacular, like nowhere else I've seen. Best batten down the hatches as Sue described, and be preapred to clean the pool afterwards. It usually fills up with debris (eg, leaves, tree limbs, lotsa dirt).
The coolest (I thought) -- the dust storms! I cannot remember the proper term, but I've heard/read that these particular type dust storms only occur two places on earth -- Arizona, and the Sudan. Awe-inspiring (and of course, maddening, if you happen to get caught out in one).
Monsoon typically starts mid-July or so and can last through October. Not sure if your experience will be the same as in the Phoenix-area, though; you're further south, aren't you??
(Ex) hubby and I were discussing AZ, fondly, last night ... we both SO hated to leave but family is here and getting up in age. (sigh ... )

Answers:

My dh & I have already discussed the possibility of moving there once my parents are gone. They live about 4 - 4-1/2 hours away in Chicago right now, I can't take the midwest weather anymore, it's killing my PA.
