Question:
I signed up to be a guine (how ever that's spelled) pig for UCI (University of California, Irvine) psorasis research. I wanted to feel like i'm doing something with this disorder i've had for 16 years.
i don't get to check the boards much (anyone in cali got an extry computer? :P ) but i wanted to share that.
Yes...I'm afraid you are crazy.
No...just teasing Janay.
Hey, what are they going to be doing to you gps anyway? Have they outlined what the plan is?
I'm chicken to take anything that hasn't been tested by a decade of braver souls than me. I won't even give Enbrel a try.
Let us know how it goes!!!
I'm too scared to go into a trial. I did Enbrel--bad mistake!
I, also wait until it's been tried and even with FDA approval-they goof!
Janay,
You're not crazy, you're brave and selfless. If it weren't for people like you none of us would be benefiting from the many treatments available to us now. Thank you. In a way I feel like I'm in a study for Enbrel. Not official, but the long term side effects have yet to be determined and I was willing to use the therapy. Who knows, maybe my usage will help to determine its efficiency.
Annie
So true, Annie. Thank you Janay:)
hi janay,
i agree with annie. You're not crazy, you're brave and selfless. helps us all. thank you and i wish you the best.
have a good day all
richard
The lady says I have to wait until friday.
oh and if you're in OC near Irvine or just want to try ( http://www.ucihs.uci.edu/derm/programs.htm ) it's at the bottom of the page. I wanted to do it cause of something they wrote "The psoriasis patient remains the best model for studying this disease since there are no animal or adequate laboratory models for psoriasis. In addition to drug studies, we periodically ask some patients to provide us with skin and blood specimens for biochemical investigations. "
i'll try to remember to stop by to say what it is. :: flexes :: i just got done with research of a different kind. The woman gave me the wierdest expression when i said "oh yeah. I forgot to tell you my skull is crooked." It was visual response in the brain and the woman doing the mri scan kept trying to figure out why my head looked funny in the scans.
I think its great that your doing the study, X fingers all goes well. I would do a study if my P was out of control. Thank God E has saved me. :D Just changed to 50mg once a week and what was left is almost gone....after almost one year. I was just happy to have my scalp P gone.
good luck
Tim,
That is great---hope it keeps working! Now that you are looking so good maybe you will change that picture to a more mature one!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D
Thanks Granny, but I love that adavar (sp) where did that word come from any ways?
Ha-just joking, didn't you see me laughing! :D :D :D
It's "avatar". I guess some computer person made it up. I had never heard it until I started using the computer. I'm too lazy tonight to try to find out. Usually, I would be nosey enough to find out!
Tim & Granny, an avatar is someone who has come to earth with the intention of saving ppl. Like Jesus, or for some Budda. How that got picked up by computor geeks is a mystery to me though.

REALLY... well I have been called a Shaman..is that similar?
Now I get it...incarnation..it must be our altered person.. :D
Yea, Tim, that's probably it. An alter personality I guess.
okay, what's hemotora, or something like that. that's what they have me on. it's a two year study to approve it for psoriasis. I get to stick myself with a needle. :: watches coordnation :: It's approved for arthritis. (btw i cant' spell cause i'm half awake)
That's as much as i can share. atm. I have another appointment on friday evening.
Good luck Janay, hope it all goes well for you.... crazy no, probably just desperate for a cure like all of us. I hope you find one that works for you..
Hi,
Could it be Humera? I have been in a clinical trail study for Humera since Novemeber of 2003. It's an injectable biologic that I inject once every two weeks. It's not approved by the FDA yet for psorisis, but is approved of for RA. I have had alot of luck with it in helping my pa.
Good luck to you
Sandy

yeah that. According to the sheet they gave me to day, this will be for two years to help get it's approval for psoriasis. They are trying to treat people with plaque to see if they get the results. I'm guessing it's because plaque is the most common of psoriasis and if you can get it approved for that then it's probably no biggie. (lots of moolah for the company, in my opinion)

Janay,
I'm in the same study. I did great on Humira in my first study last year....got to 100% clear. I don't have pa, so I can't help you on that, but I hope you get good results with it. It seems to be a very promising drug. Good luck, and hope you're adjusting to life in CA. :) Let me know if I can help answer any questions for you.
What does it mean to be alkaline? What foods make you lose or gain alkaline?

Unfortunately, you don't have to be old to have pa. :( I know several members in their early 20's who already have it.
I'm not sure when I'll be back down to your area due to finances, but I'll definitely let you know if and when I can make it. Keep us posted on your trial. :)
whoo! :: dances around ::
