I was so Happy When You posted that list as Looney Tunes and a decent release of Batman Animated are what I have been looking forward to since the dawn of dvd.
As you say this sucks!!!! :(
Do you have any reason why as i remember www.r2-dvd.org had there doubts as the dvds weren't specifically mentioned on their press release.
That sucks as much as MegaMaid! I know a guy at work who would have killed to get hold of a Roadrunner disc! :(
:oh-hum:
Why? I was looking forward to these.
Lets hope they were pulled back to produce better DVD releases. It is my understanding that these R2 DVDs were supposed to contain only 10 episodes a disk. Maybe Looney toons will re-surface as full-blown multi-disk boxed sets with the same quality extras as Disney’s treasures.
I an a HUGE Looney toon fan but I don’t know if I would have bought the featureless R2 disks. I mean what is the point of buying 10 episodes at the time when Warner’s vaults contain hundreds and hundreds of grate toons that have been issued previously as complete LD box-sets?
I choose to look on this as good news, hoping that these have been withdrawn following criticism from fans seeking more comprehensive releases of this classic material.
Ideally we'd see Disney Treasure-style chronological presentations of Bugs and co's cartoon adventures, but as others have noted WB in the UK seem to mistakenly believe that the Looney Toons library appeals purely to children.
I'd say most of today's kids are probably more interested in Bayblade than Wile E Coyote, and that WB would be better advised to target the lucrative adult market.
Here's hoping.

But guys, based on Warner Family Entertainment's R1 releases do you really expect comprehensive Box sets of Looney Tunes?
Batman:TAS and Scooby Doo are both popular enough that WFE finds it rewarding to comission and release Direct to Video productions such as the upcoming Batman:Mystery of the Batwoman and Scooby Doo and the Legend of the Vampire but their TV series releases are a joke. Scooby Doo has random episodes duplicated (the upcoming Scooby Doo's Greatest Mysteries has 3 out of 4 episodes duplicated on existing Scooby DVDs) while the Batman:TAS releases are so slow. All we know is the next Batman release has 5 episodes on it. At that rate it will take over 15 years to release all the cartoons on DVD!
Personally I think the cancellation is simply a delay - to tie the releases into the upcoming 'Back In Action' film. The only box set you'll see is the proposed titles collected togther.
Of course I could be wrong... in which case I will be just as happy as the rest of you to pick up a lovingly crafted Looney Tunes series of box sets.
