Question:
The most i have from one director would be a draw with 8 films each from John Carpenter, Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton.
9 films by Kubrick
7 films by Wes Craven
The most I have from one director is Tim Burton, from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure right through to Planet of the Apes - 9 in total, not including the Nightmare Before Christmas dvd. The film itself TB didn't have time to direct, but the dvd includes two of his short films (Frankenweenie and Vincent) which are a must for any TB completist. Complete Tim Burton back catalogue? Ooooh Yeah!
Stanley Kubrick 9 disc set R1
James Cameron
..which is kind of spooky.
;)
I think 8 John Waters' Movies is my mostest..
17 Carry On films, all directed by Gerald Thomas
Probably Spielberg with ET, JP, SPR, BoB etc etc :)
11 by Hitchcock.

WOW! some one else who likes Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. I dont feel so alone any more
Four each for:
Hitchcock
Wim Wenders
Luc Besson
And the joint leaders with five:
Powell and Pressburger
Hayao Miyazaki
12 by Kubrick.
14 if you want to include A.I. and Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures.
And Pee Wee's Big Adventure just came through my letterbox today - it's one of the most berserk and wonderful films I can think of! An unsung gem if ever there was one.
12 Kubrick films (all available - plus an SK doc disc)
9 Forman films (all available - plus an MF doc disc)
A total of 10 from Dario Argento....
Then 8 from dear ole Lucio Fulci and Hayao Miyazaki in 3rd place....
43 by Alfred Hitchcock

Tim Burton
John Carpenter
M. Night. Shyamalan
all a measly 3 :D
10 by Paul Verhoeven - I'm just waiting on Flesh & Blood to come out, and haven't quite convinced myself to get Showgirls yet.
8 by Oliver Stone
8 by Stanley Kubrick
9 by Dario Argento and 6 by Lucio Fulci
5 Spielberg, 5 Ridley Scott, 5 John Glen.
Seems 5 is my limit.
Gary A
Woody Allen 8
John Landis 5
Steven Spielberg 6 I think
John Carpenter 6
Alfred Hitchcock 4
17 Woody Allens.
Hitchcock's the runaway winner for me - I don't think I've quite got 43, but it was certainly over 30 last time I checked.
5 from Martin Scorcese. I only have 30 odd DVD`s :p
Well as I recently went and got De Palma's DVDs exclusively, I now have 10 of his movies, 11 if you count Femme Fatale which I should get once it's released.
Probably Kevin Smith, from memory without actually getting up and really trying to count!
Woody Allen 11
Kubrick 11 :)
13 from Dario Argento and 11 from David Lynch. (A couple of each are different releases of the same movie... :dork: )
7 John Carpenter movies. :D
Scorsese -
Mean Streets
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
The Last Waltz
The King of Comedy
Cape Fear
The Last Temptation of Christ
Goodfellas
Casino
Bringing Out The Dead
A Personal History.....
New York Stories
so 12 then, and a few more to get hold of.
Woody Allen - 10
Kurosawa - 8
14 Hitchcock
9 Dario Argento
7 Peter Jackson
:)
david lynch
5
the master
mullholland drive best film ever
Ten from Woody Allen.
And five each from -
Steven Spielberg
Yuen Woo-ping
Jackie Chan
6 by scorsese followed by 5 by Woo.
Seven each for Hayao Miyazaki, Johnnie To, and... er... Wong Jing (ducks). If I were counting the vhs' I've bought, then Sammo Hung would be way ahead.
Kevin smith, i have all his directoral films except clerks.
Woody Allen: 28
10 For Dario Argento, no one else comes close.
Probably Scorsese and Woody Allen with 5 each
6x Copolla, 6x Jackie Chan, 6x Joel Coen
DePalma for me - 12, 13 when Femme Fatale is released.
Kubrick 12 (13 if you count the documentary disc). Not the boxed set versions though, I got (what I consider to be) the best mix of them all (the longer cut of The Shining, the uncut version of Eyes Wide Shut, the newer SE of Doctor Strangelove, the criterion version of Spartacus plus the documentary disc which is available individually from Finland. Many are PAL, non-snapper, versions where possible - i.e. from R4).
13 Hitchcock (14 if the gits at DVDSoon will pull their finger out over Spellbound  ).
Probably Woody and hayao Miyazaki about 7 each.
5 from Senor Spielbergo and John Carpenter,
6 Dario Argento.
4 from Cronenberg.... I still have a long way to go :smokin:
I say, I have actually been considering reorganising my collection along filmmaker lines, and I had a few surprises (both good and bad) in store when looking at it from this perspective.
16 x Sir Alfred
10 x Dario Argento
10 x Stanley Kubrick (plus "AI" and "A Life", as above) (and the chap is by no means a favourite of mine!)
9 x Yuen Woo Ping
9 x Jackie Chan
8 x David Cronenberg
8 x Werner Herzog
7 x Samo Hung
7 x John Waters :p
6 x Mario Bava (plus another if one counts the co-directed "Inferno"; and nothing by Bava fils)
6 x William Castle :D
6 x Roger Corman
6 x Alex Cox
6 x Stanley Donen
6 x Howard Hawks
5 x Jonathan Demme
5 x Brian De Palma
5 x Lucio Fulci
5 x Jack Hill
5 x David Lynch (plus the first season of "Twin Peaks")
5 x Michael Mann
5 x Michael Powell (some in collaboration, of course)
5 x Billy Wilder
4 x Jim Jarmusch (more needed here)
4 x Don Siegel (when on earth are we going to see "Charley Varrick"?)
4 x Jacques Tourneur
3 x many and varied (e.g. Woo, Henenlotter, Kitano, Polanski, Coppola...not to mention Herschell Gordon Lewis...)
Now, what dismayed me in this was to be reminded of just how few I have (or, how few it is possible to obtain, even in poor editons) of the works of a number of the filmmakers in whom I am most interested. To name but a few...
Jack Arnold (have 2) ("The Incredible Shrinking Man", please...)
Bertrand Blier (have 2)
Joe Losey (have 3) (AB's R1 recent release of "The Criminal" seems to have a suspect running time; and how long are we expected to live without "The Go-Between"?)
Jean-Pierre Melivlle (have 2)
Nic Roeg (have 3)
Oh, well, at least I have satisfactory (or even astonishing) DVDs of all the feature films directed both by Charles Laughton and by Herk Harvey, old beans. ;)
James Cameron...His stuff always makes use
of the home cinema set up !!!
Wes Craven Spielberg, John Glen And Ridley Scott, as as mentioned above!:smokin:
7 by Kubrick
Not too many by director but I do have 5 by Brian De Palma, John Carpenter and Robert Zemeckis
15 by Alfred Hitchcock
9 by Ingmar Bergman.
