Question:
Has there been any news of Gremlins & Gremlins 2 SE's being released in the UK?
I recently watched Innerspace for the first time in ages and really enjoyed it (good commentary track too) and I wouldn't mind adding the Gremlins movies to my Joe Dante collection, which at the moment also includes...
Hollywood Boulevard
Piranha
The Howling
Matinee
Small Soldiers
The Burbs is another that I've been holding out for on R2.
Any info on these titles would be much appreciated.
I have the R1 of Gremlins and its fab, just buy it.
The R1 of Gremlins 2 isn't an SE, just a bog standard release, but with commentry and a trailer, off the top of my head.
<strike>Also for those with R2 only players, the 'R1' discs are flagged Region 2 (for NTSC JAPAN) so will play (as long as your player and/or television will accept NTSC)</strike>
Actually this may be a lie - please could somebody check.
OK, Harsin has confirmed I was right

 I never knew that! The R1 can be had for £9 from various Canadian suppliers.
Are there any others R1 that are "flagged" for R2 Japan?
Gremlins and Gremlins 2 R1 both work fine on my old R2 only player, although you do have to switch subtitles off manually.
Er. Looking at my discs again I may be wrong.
But many Warner titles are: for example (ironically) Innerspace and Exorcist II: The Heretic.
If you see people complaining about Japanese copyright screens when playing their Warner discs you know they are R2 NTSC as well (also look out for Japanese subtitles listed on the package)
US/Canadian Innerspace, Gremlins SE and Gremlins 2 are all encoded for regions 1 to 4, with different copyright notices for each region. But only Innerspace carries various oriental subs and a 2.0 Japanese soundtrack, with the disc defaulting to the Jap subs when played in a R2 machine. The other two default to plain old English subs when played in a R2 machine and carry no other languages aside from English, French and Spanish.
I just looked at Gremlins SE (http://www.playserver3.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R1&title=95092) at play and they seem to think it's RCE. So if I buy it, will it work or not (my player can't handle RCE)
Edit: I lied. That's not the SE version, this is! (http://www.playserver3.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R1&title=104987)
Thanks for the info guys. :)

I have both re-releases of Gremlins 1 & 2 and although WB havent called Gremlins 2 an 'SE', it does still deserve to be because the extras are just as good as Gremlins 1.
