Question:
I've already got the R4 version of BTTF and I'm very happy with it. However, I notice that the R1 version has a lot more extras on it, although the R4 has DTS. Are the extra extras on R1 worth me buying the trilogy again, or are they not worth shouting about?
depends how big a fan / completist you are!
But wait for the correctly re-framed release if you plan on buying again!
The producer has said on the record that he can't tell the difference between the DD and DTS tracks, which is why R1 dropped DTS in favour of more extras.
i have the R1 and think the sound is one of the best in my collection, especially the music, was fantastic !!
ok maybe it isnt the best, but it brought back a lot of memories :)
also i saw it last week on the same day as the BBC showing.
watched a bit on TV after and MJF sounded like a girl !!!
now thats when i can hear the PAL speedup differences !!
The extras really are pretty good to have, but if you've already got the Region 4 release I think you'd be best sticking with it.
Personally, I went for the Region 1 release - but am slightly gutted about this whole framing issue.
I've got the R1 release and worked my way through the movies and all the extras during my Xmas break. Top notch!
As regards the framing issues with BTTF 2 & 3, I watched both of these with the knowledge of these 'problems' in mind, but couldn't see anything wrong.
I'm usually a stickler for having movies in the correct aspect/framing format but IMHO the difference between the current and the 'correct' framing for these films is negligible. At no point did I spot any noticeable mis-framing.
Hmm, may just stick with the R4 version then, that seems to be the general consensus.
About the framing issue, I saw the parts in question, and to be honest, can't see what all the fuss is about. Didn't detract from the quality of the films.

The fuss is that its not the correct framing so it should be changed.
A film being in the wrong ratio may not distract from the films but Id still want it changed.
