DTS track interfering with picture quality!?
Question:

You might not believe this but it's true.
I thought I was imagining it to start with but I'm not: when I access the DTS track on the 2002 edition of E.T. from the R1 Ultimate Gift Set, the picture quality is lessened. Jagged edges and seriously bad artifacting on backgrounds. When I go back to DD 5.1 it's fine.
I have a Samsung 709 BTW. What on earth is this all about -- is it common?

I think you have a vivid imagination - it simply can't happen like that cos you are watching the exact same video stream each time

What 'e said. Either that or there's something very, very wrong with your DVD player / Home cinema setup.

Thanks for the replies John & RT. I thought that too but honest to goodness, I do not know what's going on -- could it be interfering with the image or something? Backgrounds are particularly lower quality than before, I wish it was my imagination!
I only recently got my Surround Sound speakers, etc. (Sony HTK-25), but I haven't noticed it with any other movies.
If anyone has the Gift Set maybe they could look at it. Comparing the first minute or so of Chapter 14 in both DTS and DD gives a good indication of the problem (Elliott waking up in the forest, in the DTS format the leaves on the ground are shimmering like crazy, back to DD and they're not!).
