sorry to jump on thread with no news on this m8y but i just wanted to say that this is one class movie!
I want it on dvd NOW!!!
sorry about that!
It is not out on DVD, and has been OOP on VHS since 1986. You can get it second hand from amazon for around $40 http://mysite.freeserve.com/bamse/images/2-picture3.gif. Or you could try Blackstar's video hunt service. They list the price as £16.99 here. (http://www.blackstar.co.uk/video/item/7000000008700)
cheers for the help
do you know if their is any plans to bring it out on DVD.
if no is their any way i can help to bring it out on DVD e.g. letter to film makers etc.
As it is a great film.
It doesn't look to good. I found this over at horrordvd.com The Monster Squad is a top notch monster movie that both adults and children can enjoy. It has great makeup effects, a decent story, and a good dose of humor. I highly recommend it. The transfer on this laserdisc is satisfactory at best, but I do recommend it over the domestic laserdisc primarily because of the widescreen presentation. Given this laserdisc is from 1989, it's hard to fault anyone for what was most likely considered a decent transfer (minus the overly bright colors) back then. This is a movie that SCREAMS for a DVD release. It would be great to get all the kids together (ala Goonies) for a commentary track. Unfortunately, it seems The Monster Squad isn't destined to hit DVD anytime in the near future. No studio is fessing up to owning the rights. Last I heard, Paramount owns the rights, but they won't confirm or deny that. In the meantime, this laserdisc will have to suffice. For those planning on looking for a copy: good luck! This is a rare and expensive disc. But if you're a big fan of the movie, it's definitely worth trying to locate.
I still have it on VHS in my loft I think. AFAICR I bought the original minus box in Woolworths about 8 years ago for £8
i must say it is a great shame if they dont release it on DVD. As after looking all over the internet their seems to be alot of fans and many film sites speak fairly high of it.
This is one I've wanted for a long time too. :( I hope someone picks up on the potential fanbase of this film on DVD.
Fingers crossed...
Oh my god! I was trying to think of this the other night from the classic lines:
"Kick him in the nuts!"
"Wolfman don't got no nuts!"
*Quick swift kick*
"Wolfman got nuts!"
theres about 6 of them on ebay.co.uk going for about £6.00 (VHS)
"Scary German guy!!!!"
I went to see 'The Monster Squad' when it was released on cinema back in the 80's, I'd love to have it on DVD
If I remember, the word was'nt "nuts"....it was "nards"
This is Freaky..... my cousins came down the house today and wanted to watch a film. Instead of choosing sumthing from my excellent DVD collection:thumbs: . They wanted to watch either Raiders of the Lost Ark or......The Monster Squad on VHS:gag:
Bye Bye Phoebe
I love "The Goonies" and "The Lost Boys" - is it worth bidding for one of those tapes on ebay?
:shocker: i have this on VHS somewhere what a classic film.

"ALUCARD!!!"
If anyone was going to release this on DVD it ought to be Anchor Bay.
They`d give it the respect it deserves. Although they`d probably release it in about 100 different limited edition forms
Well they had two copies in hull at the two video shos i checked out. yhey both went not so long ago(4 days) :| Maybe i shouldnt have opened my big mouth... grrr
Watched this film soooooo many times when I was a youngster. The two lines I remember are:

and:
"BO-GUS!!"
Man, those monsters were cool!
"Phoebe's a Feeb!"
yum PIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well does any one have any information on it e.g. where i can get hold of it on DVD, VHS etc.
