Question:
title.
you get grandaddy movies like Citizen Kane and North by Northwest with spectacular transfers.
i cant seem to recall any movies from the 80s having great transfers. But im sure there are loads, and im sure i have a few. I just cant think of any.
Back To The Future, Ghostbusters and Ferris Bueller's Day Off are immaculate. They look like they were made yesterday.
Crocodile Dundee looks like its got a good transfer,
some would argue that the BttF ones arent up to scratch, but the mis-framing is hardly noticeable mainly
Empire of the Sun and The Shining both look pretty stunning, both from Warners
Big Trouble In Little China :D
Running Scared isn't bad, especially considering it's a pretty cheap DVD, and not a special edition.
Warner did a fine job with The NeverEnding Story, the 2-channel surround is pretty good also....
I also love the way Momentum's Flash Gordon looks, a visual peach. Shame they didn't extend to a 5.1, though....
Steve
they transfers on momentums recent horror selections were fantastic, including they live, which looks better than half the stuff from last year.
RoadHouse looks ok.
Have to admit that Ghostbusters looks fantastic and after watching the first two Back To The Future films again (ain't watched the third one yet), I have to say that the films have never looked better.
Project A
espically since HK movies are kept with no saftey with the prints in mind
Big Trouble In Little China looks great, as does Ghostbusters.
any outstanding ones, the ones that make you think WOW how did they do that ?
like Citizen Kane and North by Northwest :)
i didnt think BTTF was great, it is still good for a movie that age but it wasnt 'great'.

Sounds crap though....no 5.1 just a crappy DS mix. :oh-hum:
The Last Temptation Of Christ Criterion as you'd expect is a great looking transfer. Best I think I've seen from the eighties.

I genuinely though WOW to the Ferris Bueller transfer (and wow that it was the first time I'd seen it in its OAR). Looks like it was filmed yesterday.
