Question:
I saw this last night. I liked it, but I was a bit surprised at how far-fetched it was, even for a Bond movie. This scene had me mumbling "don't be silly, mate" in disbelief:
Bond is hanging over a cliff when Graves causes it to collapse. Bond then proceeds to surf down the resulting tidal wave, using an impromptu surf board and parachute. I know it's Bond and it's cool and all the rest of it.
But don't be silly, mate.
(And the effects weren't that good either).
Apart from that, I thoroughly enjoyed it. :D
EDIT: perhaps this should be in the Review Forum? Please move if so.
I did think the scene mentioned in your spoiler was a bit naff, and the Car Chase Scene with Bond and the Asian guy firing Missiles at each other was lame.
But, overall, I also really enjoyed it.
Bring on the next one!
If it was too realistic and gritty there would be complaints too -depends what you want from a Bond movie.
I'm sure insane sports fans do use parachutes to propel themselves on skates and beach karts so it's possible though improbable!
worst bond ever :gag: :)
Havent we covered this in another Bond thread!
:dork:
I do agree though it is far fetched and not a traditional bond film.
For me, the most unrealistic scene in the movie was probably the least far fetched. After using all manner of invisible cars, ultrasonic rings and laser watches, Bond and Jinx had to use a pair of wire clippers to cut through the fence at the air base near the end!!!

Have to agree with you. I love the whole Bond saga but this one was just a little bit to predictable.
How on earth can you call invisible cars far fetched
People defend it by saying a lot of bonds have always been far fetched, which is true but even the most ridiculous ones (such as Moonraker) have still had the amazing stunts.
Watching Bonds's CGI rocket sled fall off a cliff in stuttervision, then watching him hang onto it on a vertical cliff face, pull out the parachute and go into another poor CGI sequence of parachute surfing isn't exciting because you know nobody actually did the stunt.
Invisible car just took the biscuit really. Bond has never had a gadget THAT far fetched as I can recall (And I watched all 19 less than a month ago).
Brosnan as bond is good
Over use of CGI, A poor script and weak direction is bad.

I agree, theres loads of them on the roads! ;)
I thought the invisible car idea wasnt too bad, cameras projecting the surroundings onto the cars body seem logical.
Maybe for a bit of camoflauge.....but completely invisible so that you can dissapear infront of people or drive up right next to a guard who doesn't notice?
Ridiculous.

All I can say is thank god Goldeneye is on telly soon. I still think it is the best bond movie ever and is based loosely on the same kinda threat as Die Another Day.
Can't wait.
Goldfinger is the best bond movie ever imho.
The biggest improbability in DAD was the Moneypenny scene. Apparently we have the technology to replicate the Holodeck in Star Trek, complete with touch capability.
Ive spoken to so many people over the past weeks and most say its total rubbish.
The odd one person says "oh it was cool" but i think they aren't coming from a film lover or Bond lover background, put it this way the same girls liked Pearl Harbour and Armageddon. :gag:
