Question:
Anybody who's seen Die Another Day will have to agree with me, Brosnan's got the Bond thing down. I think it was a nice idea to twist the Bond formula around a bit, him being a prisoner for over a year, MI6 not trusting him anymore...
And ya gotta love a sizzling hot sports car that can turn invisible.
But the best of all is of course Halle Berry's not so subtle reference to Ursula Andress in the first ever Bond movie, Dr. No.

hi meph, btw
Brosnan is definately my favourite Bond but I thought Die Another Day was pretty poor - it just wasn't a proper Bond movie, just a typical action movie instead of it being that uniqueness that makes Bond stand out

So, much like all of Brosnan's bond films then
Tim Dalton was the best bond.
The only good bond is the kind you cash in and recieve money. ;)

The Living Daylights was good - License to Kill was terrible. Dalton was so-so as Bond. Covers all bases I think :p
BTW, Goldeneye, TND and TWINE were great, old school Bond films coupled though with a quality Bond in Pierce Brosnan
goldeneye is great
die another day is not
licence to kill is not
living daylights is
but the world is not enough is better than them all
I saw my first Brosnan Bond film the other night - Goldeneye - and fell asleep half way through it
Thought he was good as Bond (from what I saw), just thought they went over the top with the one-liners & sexual innuendos "Xenia Onatopp" :oh-hum:
I know there's always been silly names in Bond films (Pussy Galore, Plenty O'Toole, Mary Goodnight, Holly Goodhead  ) but it just seemed more blatant in this film for some reason??
Is it worth going back and watching the end of it?
Roger Moore:notworthy
Yeah, I've seen Die Another Day, and it just confirmed my opinion that Brosnan is abysmal as Bond.
He looks the part, but so do clothing store mannequins, and I'd argue that they have more life about them. With Brosnan there's nothing going on behind the eyes - it's entirely superficial. All style no substance.
I'm no great fan of Roger Moore's take on Fleming's creation, but at least he's got charisma and comic timing, and is always fun to watch. I'd take both Moore and Lazenby over Brosnan. Heck, I'd even take Woody Allen in Casino Royale.

IMO the films with Roger Moore as the Bond are the most entertaining.
Moving to DVD & Movie Forum. :)
Whats so official about it?

Ya have? For me that was one of the worse Bond moments ever. Where can they go from there? Surely all his cars would have to be invisble now considering the technology (in the Bond universe) is now apparently available.
Whats next, an Invisible Tuxedo?
Gary A
Nah he aint as good as Moore IMO ... only Moore could get away with the cheesiest one liners ever.
Connery, Moore, Brosnan, Dalton, That other Guy :)
Its Official Halle Berry worst ever Bond Girl would have been a better thread title or Its Official Die Another Day is crap! ;)
Denise Richards was worse.
Whats more worrying is that for the last 3 bonds, they have had 3 Americans playing Bond girls (Terri Hatcher, Denise Richards and now Halle Berry). Not a cheap ploy to try to appeal to American Audiences more though I am sure........
Gary A
Denise Richards wasnt in it much though, so I didnt really mind her, Halle Berry was the main star though! :D

I agree about it being one of the worst Bond moments ever (almost as bad as Bond driving a BMW Z3) but this "having the technology available" argument doesn't really wash - if that was the case, 007 would have traded in his Walther PPK for a lasergun after 'Moonraker'...

It 's one of the better bond movies IMO :|
Anyone wanna go and read the thread intitled -
Why didn't Timothy Dalton Do A Third Bond Film!
Brosnan is Ok but Dalton is still the best!
"Watch the birdy you _______!"
I disagree totally, not only is Licence to Kill a good 'Bond film' it is also a 'good film' in its own right, and the only Bond film my parents watch and enjoy as it is the most believeable of all the Bonds with it being played totally down to earth and less far fetched.
Licence to Kill was and still is Bond's best ever moment
No Bond disappoints me, everyone has a opinion on Bond, in terms of being James Bond, Dalton did that in the spirit of flemming, Connery is always up there, Brosnan is good Bond as well, but everyone has a opinion, but I think if you ask Bond purests, what Dalton did in Licence to Kill is as closest we've gotten to Flemming's Bond so far. I like Brosnan, but like he said, it's taken time for him to find his Bond, Connery and Dalton nailed it in their first 2 films, and Dalton's 2 only films. Pierce needs a Bond driven story, I think he's great, but apart of his performances are tied down, but in the first 75 mins of DAD he was excellent, Bond producers should let him have free reign with the villian in his next and likely last one or two.
Once again, everyone has a opinion on Bond, and what they want it to be. Roger was fun and fantasy, Dalton very Bondian as we've gotten, and Connery very Bond, and his own touch to differeniate a bit from flemming, and Brosnan being the 5th actor, its not easy, can't do it very differently, I think his complete approach of blending styles is going to be liked more in time, but I hope he has a mega 5th film storywise, because he can only excel in what is written after all, all the flemming Bond novels have been done, be great if they used Benson's novels or Gardener's, Never Dream of Dying would be a great film, there are good stories to be told.
But I don't like the title of this thread, there's nothing official to who's the best Bond, thats left to the opinion of all the fans and watchers, we don't conform and agree with everyone, the Bond films go so many different ways to pleasing everyone, it's surprising at times, but given 20 films, some know what like, some don't like what others like, nothing official or offical answers to what's the best in Bond, when in doubt, the core flemming spirit and flemmingism Bondian elements are the bible of this series, whether some like it or not, it is where Bond is from:smokin:
Personally I think Pierce's mixed up approach of Bond is popular to the masses, blend Roger and Connery and dashes of Dalton briefly, you get a all round appeal, although it might not stand out in a big way to some fans, but I think his approach is right for the type of films and stories he's been given, if the story is better, I expect him to have better things to do and say, I remember him dissing his dialogue in Goldeneye at one point, or in TND, he said didn't know where the story is, TWINE-he said we brought the die hard quality to the series, about DAD, he says its formulic, its the films strength and weakness, I think every Pierce Bond film is enjoyable for me, but none of them is totally good enough to be a top 5 bond film contender for me, Goldeneye was good, but his performance was cautious, he said that himself, I thought he was great in TND, more connery like, but more meat and story was needed for him to excel more, TWINE-great potential, electra scenes and doubts was great, but he pushed it in trying to be dramatic, shouting in some scenes, or putting his hand on the screen when electra is on it, forced passion or dramatics, as the script isn't punched up for him. But his all around performance saves him, and makes it enjoyable, but I know Pierce can do better, I really hope they give him a complete film of performance like some of the first half of DAD, but interaction with a good villian, not too many villians, concentrate on one. There is room for improvement, I think Pierce will peak in his last film, he's gotten better, if he does 2 more, I expect them to be his 2 best Bond films or his best if he does one more because in DAD to me he showed very good confidence as Bond in what he was given, especially the pre-title-torture and all that, humanity which Dalton stated makes Bond more interesting in adversity, we can't relate to Robots, Arnold make a cool terminator, but Bond is human, so that must be taken advantage of, I think he was very Bond in the Korea scenes and hotel, just have his 5th film all like that, and it will be a his standout.
And ya gotta love a sizzling hot sports car that can turn invisible.
But the best of all is of course Halle Berry's not so subtle reference to Ursula Andress in the first ever Bond movie, Dr. No.
