Movies that you thought looked dire in the trailer, but turned out to be good?
Question:

bruce-leroy's posting got me thinking - Which good movies had trailers which were awful or badly misrepresented the film?
One that springs to mind is Fight Club. I thought this looked dire when I saw the trailer, but since watching it on sky movies one night when there was nothing else on, it's become one of my favourite films.
Any more? :)

I was dreading My Big Fat Greek Wedding and the fiancée had to see it, but it turned out to be less painful than the trailer suggested..I thought it was going to be like My Best Friends Wedding.

Waaaaayyy back in the 1980s, The Lost Boys looked rather good from the trrailers while Near Dark just didn't look promising at all. I like The Lost Boys now, but Near Dark is still the last word in modern-day Vampire flicks....

The only one I can really remember is Dog Soldiers. The trailers didn't really do it any favours at all, but then the film mags raved about it........
Went to see it and loved every moment.

Haven't seen the movie yet but the trailer for the remake of 'Ring' was bloody awful! Made the film look like the usual run-of-the-mill ghost story ********.
Hope the film turns out to be much better than the trailer lets on...

Kind of the wrong way round, but I watched the trailer for The Shawshank Redemption on the DVD after watching the film, and the trailer made the film look terrible...
...it didn't change my mind about the film though, it is still one of the best films I own...

Fight Club as well. The trailer made me avoid watching it in the cinema or when it came out to rent. Eventually a friend persuaded me to watch it and its now one of my favourites :)
