Collect Questions

I actually can't think of many at the moment. The only one that springs to mind is Double Team - by Hong Kong director Tsui Hark and starring Jean Claude Van Damme (which I know is enough to put most people off, but anyway...). When I saw the trailer (many years ago), it looked like it had the makings of a very enjoyable martial arts actioner. I was really looking forward to seeing it. I really thought Tsui Hark would succeed at making an American action movie with the Hong Kong style. John Woo managed it with Hard Target, even with Van Damme in the lead (I think so anyway).
I know this generally applies to a lot of films (usually mainstream blockbuster material), but I would like to know which ones disappointed you most?

Double Team is one of my fave films ... Mickey Rourke playing the bad guy and some great action scenes, the little guy who kicks the chair up and has knives in his slippers :D .... if only Dennis Rodman wasnt in it :rolleyes:
In and Out - The Trailer showed EVERY funny part, I dont think there was another comedy scene that wasnt in the trailer.
Wild Wild West - Will Smith in a western, looked kinda enjoyable.



The Avengers - Great trailer. Crap film.
Comedian - Surely one of the greatest trailers of all time, but I understand the film is pants.



Die Another Day - more I think of it, more I'm more disappointed by it. Too much SFX that eat into the heart of what makes Bond different from your usual action movie.
Mission: Impossible 2 - Truely dismal sequel that looked like being a great follow up to the fantastic original. Poor John Woo just becomes a puppet for Tom Cruise to try and look super cool HK style. If Woo had been given control of the project, it would have rocked. Unfortunately it just sucks

The Mummy Returns - looked like an excellent sequel in the trailer, but was an overblown piece of rubbish when I saw it. Massive disappointment. :mad:



Reign of fire- looked interesting in the trailer, updating the dragon myth, tuned out to be a pile of poo!



spiderman- trailer looked excellent, but the more i watch it the less i like it



The One- never watched it because everyone said it was so bad
Jeepers Creeps- i hate it i hate it i hate it!!!!
Apocalipse Now - didnt hate it, just didnt like it that much
Clifhanger - felt really let down by it



Almost every film made in the last ten years that I've seen trailers for have disappointed me since I normally only get to see trailers for blockbusters. These trailers tend to give away all the good jokes, all the action scenes of worth and tend to tell you the whole story. Not good.
Recently I've been downloading all the trailers so I'm hoping this will shift as I get to see trailers for more interesting looking films - such as El Crimen Del Padre Amaro which looks like something I might really like.



The Mummy Returns .



Eight Legged Freaks.......looked great for 99% of the trailer (except for the bit where the spider hits the window and you get a stupid noise)...........then the movie completely sucked like "America's Funniest 'Loads of stupid sound effects added' Pets"

Spiderman - in the trailer they show the very final (and for me the best) bit of the film with him swinging through the buildings. The rest of the film (and SFX) was crap.



I know that loads of people hate Soldier, but I think it's alright OK for what it is. But the R1 DVD has a trailer on which makes it out to be a real action-fest. Loads of shots of spaceships and battles and a cool zoom through the broken helmet of a spaceman floating in space.

Cats & Dogs - In fact I think the trailer contained all the funny moments for the whole film :|



Another vote for Spiderman and The One (Jet Li's worst film todate imo). Difficult to remember others, I only tend to watch trailers at the cinema and I don't go that often these days!



Frailty - Trailer made it look interesting, turned out crap
Signs - Trailer looked fantastic, turned out to be another M Knight Whassisname pile of crap



Minority Report :(



Most of the DVDs I own fall into this category.
Most recent one I can think of is Ghost Ship - It does look very entertaining in the trailer - I have yet to see the film myself - but understand that I will be disappointed when I do.



Independence Day looked great in the trailer. It turned out to be one of the worst films I've ever seen.



Yep, another vote for Independence Day. Not only did it look great but the sound in the trailer was fantastic.
I remember the whole cinema shaking as an unseen alien craft approached Washington or wherever it was. Upon visiting the same cinema (and screen) for the film a few days later this was bizzarely absent.



Going back a few more years I can remember getting oh so excited by the awesome trailer for Alien 3, then the film sucked :(
Not quite so bad all these years down the line, but it really was a huge disappointment at the time.



...and Alien Resurrection. Cool trailer, awful film.

That Columbo movie where bruce lee appears for like 20 secs ... I saw the trailer where they played the whole of bruce lee's act including the bit where he jumps out the window thinking WOW I gotta watch this ... watched the whole movie and was well ****** ...

Phantom Menace
The main trailer had all the bits from the film that felt like the original 3, but the rest of the film was awful. :(

I think you will find it is actually "that Marlowe movie" starring the great James Garner, and Bruce had a cameo appearance as Winslow Wong (IIRC ;) )

Practically all the videos I rented back in the 80's! Remember the scenario? Sitting there half cut with your mates saying that looks good! as gravelly voice man introduces the latest trailers. Only to find they're all utter crap!

Agreed Star Trek Nemesis...... One of the most boring films I've ever seen. Trust me, just stick to watching the trailer folks

Nigh on every "Generic Teen Movie" trailer contains the best jokes, scenes, etc.

Trailer looked most promising, film turned out to be a crock of .......... lets just say it wasn`t very good.



Going back a bit but my vote would be "Spies Like Us"; about three laughs in the trailer and no more in the film at all!!

The Hole, the original teaser was really cool what with the symptons of being down there too long and the really nice camera-work, but the actual film turned out to be good but not the atmospheric chiller I had hoped for.

Scary Movie, and almost every "teen-comedy" movie.
Every half-decent joke is in the trailer, the rest is utterly pantstastic, but I seem to fall for it every time - doh! :rolleyes:
