or maybe not
He would have been my choice to play the role.
Although it might have been nice to see Christopher Lee taking up the role, Ian McKellan should fill the role up nicely.
I mean, he's got the same beard! :D
Apparenty, according to ComingSoon.net (http://www.comingsoon.net/cgi-bin/archive/fullnews.cgi?newsid1041025806,66816,) the rumours that The Sun is spreading are false.
The S*n telling lies? Now thats a first! ;)
I was sadened to hear the role wouldn't be going to Gene Wilder.
I thought maybe Samuel Jackson. After all, he's been in everything else.

No he hasn't.
See here (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Jackson,+Samuel+L.)
How about Michael Gambon then?
Judging by Coming Soon.net (http://www.comingsoon.net/cgi-bin/archive/fullnews.cgi?newsid1041288245,38654,) it looks like it will be him.
Harry Knowles said there is no chance that Ian will be playing the part, apparantly he has already played the best wizard and doesnt want to play anyting inferior
Knowles quoted the webmaster of McKellen's website who said that he was asked but declined the role but was instead interested in another part in one of the movies.
