Halfway through the series, really enjoying it so far :)
Having never seen it before was wondering if I should skip the last 2 eps of the series and just watch End Of Evangelion?
Yes, End Of Evangelion is the last 2 eps redone and extended, I've done the same, just gotta find time to watch it now (got the R4)

I would watch every episode you can. I have watched the entire series at least twice and I still find myself with more questions than answers at the end!
The final part of Evangelion is out in Febuary and it has DTS sound bring on The End Of Evangelion.

R1 version has many a fault associated with it though.

Don't I know it, I sent mine back at the time for a refund and got the R4 version which was due out a couple of weeks later;). In the mean time though the corrected R1 version has been released. Moot point really though since the R4 is generally available for a couple of quid less, but if having a DTS English(spit) track is of importance to you the R1 is more attractive(R4 only has DD 5.1 for the English dub).
What ever region it is I still get a headache thinking about it!

Yes, if i were you i would skip ep 25/6 and watch the movie (EoE) first. After you pick your jaw up from the floor, Stick in the last two ep and watch that.
You have to remember one thing about the two different endings. The movie shows what's actually happening out in the real world. The last two eps of the series shows what going through in his mind.
I've got the French R2, which has no DTS or Commentray, i hope it's also anamorphic
