I happened to find a bunch of old videos I recorded from TV years ago, and one of them had Backdraft on it.
I just couldn't resist watching it, it's been ages since I last saw this movie...
What can I say? It's quite a torture to watch old videos :lol: - but it was worth it :thumbs:

I have to say that I used to like it. I owned the DVD on VHS and when it was time to replace with the DVD I did...... When I re-wathed it however I realised what a poor film it really was! The script is about as bad as you will ever come acrsss ("That's my brother damn it!!") and some of the acting is atrocious! And as for that bit towards the end when Baldwin jumps around a corner with his hose held like a gun as if to take the fire by surprise...... brilliant!!



Always fancied doing it on top of a fire engine too.

I'm all for a bit of extreme violence, as long as it's in good humour, but Ichi the Killer displays a kind of masochism I've not seen since the infamous Last House on the Left. There's little good humour here, in fact there is little to redeem this movie at all, it takes a sick pleasure in violence and rape that I found more than a little distasteful.
Takashi Miike goes well past the edge of bad taste into an arena rarely seen, and it's rarely seen for a reason. This is a nasty, violent, sadistic film, which sadly is why it has built such a reputation in the West. Curiosity may well get the better of you but be warned, it really is rather disgusting, and if you don't think so you probably shouldn't be allowed around children. Or animals. Or sharp things. Or matches. Or………
you took that as a recomendation?!!:eek:

I remember first seeing this about 6 years ago when my sis had taped it, got it about a year ago on DVD and it has got to be one of the best films ever made in my opinion.
Linking it to the films that make u blubber thread, you can't help but feel emotion well up inside u when Kurt Russell's character 'Stephen McCaffrey' dies in the ambulence and then the funeral happening to the great gripping music score....hmmmm...must watch this again over the holidays.

Shame about the rest of the film.

i was only messin about the you owe me thing mate lol calm down an curiosity did get the better of me to order it aswell as the fact it was so cheap lol.i must admit the rape scenes where to much aswell but the violence was so over the top in msot scenes that they kinda disolved into stupidity IMHO.also can you explain to me what was going on with that fella who turned into that steroid freak one minute he was old etc next thing hes a wwf wrestler ??



Love the film and willing to put up with my dodgy R4 copy until an ultimate version comes along!!
Never really got the kudos it deserverd IMHO, cos I always thought it was an good all-round film that had something for everyone!

The pyrotechnics blew me away when I first saw them in the cinema. I still enjoy the cheesiness of the film. No brain fun film :thumbs:



Robert DeNiro steals every scene he is in as the fire investigator - surely the premise for a TV series in the Fire Investigations Dept. I would have thought?



SILVERBACK - glad you bought Blade DTS in the end mate :) As for Ichi...... I didn't review it and to be honest, really don't fancy watching it! I'll let you and danielzavitz work out who owes who money for you purchasing it :D
