'Die Another Day' US gross **UPDATE**
Question:

Despite what I posted below, in fact Die Another Day has now made $156,156,363 according to boxofficemojo, which makes it the highest grossing Brosnan Bond in the US even accounting for inflation (and the fifth highest of all the 20 films). That's a pretty impressive figure and thankfully means 007 has roundly beaten the crap out of, for one, xXx!
As Die Another Day is about to leave the US Top Ten, I'm speculating on how well it's done there -- it is currently on approx. $139m, already officially the highest-grossing Brosnan but a look at the inflation adjusted figures here (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/jamesbond/adjusted.htm) indicates that in fact Tomorrow Never Dies is still probably going to end up the winner, I can't see DAD making another $15m from now.
Unfortunately there seems to be a plateau above which the Bond series can't reach in the US (despite all the hype which accompanied this 40th anniversary release). I don't know what to say about this, but it's a shame I think. I'm sure MGM/UA said they were hoping for a significantly higher gross on this one.
Worldwide it seems to be doing exceptionally well, but do the North American figures justify the $140m budget? Perhaps the next one will be lower (which could be a good thing).

Perhaps if they made better Bond films more people might go.
It's a crazy idea...

They tried that with the Dalton films. Less people went unfortunately.

Just seem the movie at the local cinema. Thought it was a load of pants. IMO the James Bond saga is great but this was one of the worst ones.
I just hope they improve on the next installment.

I guessed they hoped introducing Berry would solve this. I can't see any other justification for her inclusion. it didn't. Hopefully they'll try another Daltonesque film! The Americans also probably prefer american heros (Damon)

Box office was slow in the last 2 weeks before TTT as well, could of been a extra 10 million maybe. Bond's biggest asset, it does well everywhere, US gross is always respectable, breaking records in other countaries. Then the DVDs, and DVD boom is alot bigger, since The World is Not Enough, television rights huge revenue as well, even ITV uk channel paid for TND before sky. Profits not a worry.
DAD total gross looks likely to be the biggest. For the 20th film in the series, great the public is hungry for Bond more then ever, as soon as one finishes, you want to see Bond 21 fast. You got the press and public always talking about the next Bond, even though most know Pierce is back for a 5th.
On a side note, brought Night Fire for the Xbox, they used Pierce's image for it, alot of fun!

I rather didn't even notice, just thought some cool gal in leather with a sword, only after the movie it was pointed out to me.
Die Another Day is a GREAT 40th anniversary Bond and might be one of the best of all, I even got the trading cards set :dork:

i liked the idea of bond being captured and Tortured and MI6 having to trade him back. but what followed didnt seem to have ne structure.........and for me it didnt seem like much effort was put into the script.........it was just brutallised and seemed to be nothing other than an action flick as opposed to the thinking mans action flick(i.e mission impossible)

Answers:

I don't think Bond has ever really meant to be the thinking mans action flick. Just a bit of entertainment and fun really, which is what it was.

there has always been a bit of intelligence to the bonds, not just all out action, plus i know it sounds silly but i really missed Desmond Llewelyn's presence in DAD, john cleese has his work cut out for him filling his shoes

Answers:

I don't think anyone could Fill Desmonds shoes, nor should they attempt to.

too right i rememeber his last scene in the world is not enough, it had me in tears it was as if desmond knew something was going to happen to him. ill never forget bonds last words to him
"your not thinking of leaving anytime soon..................are you?"

Yeah, and the last shot of him is going down on some kind of elevator, disappearing out of the frame, saying "Always have an escape plan." I think he knew he wasn't gona live another 2-3 years to be in another Bond film.

Answers:

yeah he knew he wouldnt be able to make another, the franchise just wont seem the same. i would've thought that there would have been some mention of him in die another day, but there wasnt.

Cleese mentioned the one thing he learned from his predessesor, was that he 'never joked about his work'.
It was also quite a lengthy gadget scene, with old gadgets lying around.

hahhaha bond messin about with the rocket pack saying "does this still work?????" classic!!

yes thats what it was ... I thought all the other Bonds were a thinking mans action flick though :D

Answers:

Not much thinking envolved with any of the Bonds to be honest. Fairly straight forward all of them.
Although some people may have found them complicated and hard going.:D

I think AVTAK hurt the Bond franchise, which affected Dalton's film.
p.s. DAD is donkey dung  Wagner, you and your horrible Mtv editing take a hike!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hero of the Bond films is James Bond period. Regarding the films gross, considering these come out every two or three years 130+ million is very good.

TWINE was great IMO, 10x better the D.O.D ... that plot had me stumped for over a week! ;)

Answers:

Plot? yeah it had me stumped as well.
It also had some of the lamest action sequences in any Bond film.:oh-hum:

"I never joke about my work, something my predersessor always said." The line is something like that in DAD by John Cleese's Q, so he did get menstioned. I also believe Desmond's son is a extra somewhere in the film.
