Question:
Hi,
Does anybody know if the 2 disc DVD of Amadeus (released on 23 october 2002 i think) is still available?
I think I saw on Blackstar that it is now deleted..Weird?!
Just wanted it for an Xmas present thats all so was wondering if you can get it on the high street
Thanks
Kev :-)
The only High Street shop I've seen this in is HMV as I hunted it down this week to buy as a Xmas present. No one else seemed to stock this, or the 2-disc One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, which I also found in HMV
Hope that helps
Edge
Thanks Edge..I'll look into it.
I wonder if it has been deleted and HMV are just selling their remaining stock? Oh well....
Bought this just after it came out as I hadn't seen it before and had heard good things about it. I was quite suprised to see one of the characters shouting the 'c-word' (the 'nasty' one ;) ). I went back to check and it was in the subtitles too!. Quite funny that BBFC passed the director's cut a PG considering the hang up's they have about the word. Someone must have been sleeping the day that was classified!
I don't know if it has been recalled or not but it might explain why its suddenly disappered off the shelves if someone has just told the BBFC about their slip-up.
Just checked the BBFC's site and there it says the film has not been cut and rated a PG.
Out of interest are there any sites out there that can tell me whether a fil is available or deleted on DVD?
Cheers.

Chi-Z, I'm either having a momentary mental block or I've missed this completely - like 50 times+!
EDIT: Nope, still none the wiser. :)
Incidentally, the 'Berridge's Baps' scene alone should have nudged the DC to a 12 probably!
For anyone who's interested the 'C-word' occurs at 2h 12m 29s (Chap 36; 2m 34s) on my UK copy, just checked! Still am suprised its there actually. Tut tut BBFC. :nono: :p
Might be worth picking up a copy (or two....mucho E-bay money :smokin: ) as might be considered a collector's item soon ;)
Well spotted, Chi-Z!
It wasn't a mental block on my part - I'd just never noticed it. It's Also Chap 36 on the R1, dead on the 2 hour 18 minute mark.
As it happens, if the recall was owt to do with this (if indeed there has been a recall), they would have gotten away with it without those subs. Just as the offending word is about to be signed and sealed with the final 't', the camera cuts from Simon Callow and the 't' doesn't sound as pronounced as it might have done (also amidst the scuffle that has now begun). Could have been anything really - and it's never even occured to me that I've had no idea what he says at that point.
Hmm, the 'c' word and a big pair of breasts in a 'sexual' context - perhaps we don't need Mulder and Scully to figure this one out. The R1 is listed as R (restricted) on grounds of 'brief nudity'.
In any case, the recently-released R4 2-disc SE is still very much available.
:)

It seems there are limited supplies in Aus as well. Pre-orders from Devoted were only sent out last week (mine came Thursday) when it had an end of October official release date. See my thread in suppliers.
Anyway Devoted do now have it and I paid around £11.
I thought there was some kind of fault on this which may be why it’s recalled. Can’t remember exactly what it was though.
Well I own the R1 SE of "cuckoos nest" and it is certainly faulty!
No big deal though: The deleted scenes are non-anamorphic 1.85:1, they have however been flagged as anamorphic, stretching them horribly on my 16x9 set
Perhaps they are sorting this out, although I don't know if this problem applies to the R2 release.

Perhaps Devoted got their stock late? EzyDVD had it briefly then went out of stock, but now have it again, and there seem to be gazillions of copies in Sydney stores...?
jonathan.e, was this fault also meant to be present in the R4 SE?
