Just curious...but does anyone actually buy these type of boxed sets? I suppose they can justify the price but the extra stuff (CD, Posters etc) is all available singly elsewhere. I have never understood the collectibility of the senitype thingies either. Seems like easy money to me. Just get a 35mm print of a movie then cut up all the individual frames and sell them for a fortune.

£37.99 sack that! You can get the Limited Edition Wooden Box R1 version for £23 from Amazon.ca which is a much nicer package all together (but without the CD, Poster & Senitype)

These have been going for ages, you can get alsorts of classic films, Dr Zhivago, the matrix, dr who, etc. theyr worth getting if you like the film but thats about it.

I realise they have been around for a while so must sell reasonable amounts in order to justify the new ones. But surely if you like the film then buy the film....just looks like another christmas box set type thingy to me. Extra stuff that means very little. I notice they tend to be a UK thing which probably says a lot about UK consumers

They're released by Creative Design Arts and actually the R1 versions come out ahead of their R2 counterparts e.g. you can get a similar Senitype/Poster pack with Pulp Fiction in R1 land currently.
Have to say I'm quite partial to senitypes :dork:
The French Ghibli discs can be bought with senitypes encased in glass which look stunning!

Yesterday, I have received my copy of the recently-released “Classic Collection Box Set” of THE WICKER MAN (1973) from Play.com.
However, checking back with all the supplements that should have come with the box, I discovered that the “Commemorative Booklet: 16 full-colour pages featuring production stills and exclusive behind-the-scenes images from the film” and the “Free Rolled Theatrical Poster Offer In-pack: Original US one sheet cinema poster (40” x 27”)” - as advertised on Play.com and other retailer websites – were nowhere to be found in my package!!
Apart from this, I was very distressed that whereas the package was supposed to house 3 separate discs (for the Theatrical Version of the film, the Director’s Cut, and the Soundtrack CD), there was available space for only 2, so that one DVD was simply placed inside the case with no support whatsoever with the result that it got badly scratched!!
Of course nobody can guarantee that, if Play.com were to send me a replacement copy, I wouldn’t be faced by the exact same inadequate packaging (to say nothing of the missing items) but I am willing to try one last time - after all, the GBP 37.99 I paid, covered the ENTIRE package!!
In any case, did anyone here who has purchased the “Classic Collection Box Set” of THE WICKER MAN encounter a similar experience?

These boxed sets by CDA are nothing to do with Warner (other than they provide a licence to CDA to produce the sets). They're not re-releases by Warner trying to make money (though they will make some from it), but CDA trying to make a business out of sticking plain Warner products in fancy packaging for enthusiasts and charge a premium for them.
That said, I've bought a couple. Enter The Dragon R1 which actually has some nice stuff in the package (mainly the book), and 2001 though I'm not so impressed by that one (I mainly got it because it's one of my favourite films and it makes up for the dire lack of any extra content on the disc itself).
What you don't get with any of these re-packaging deals is any additions to the disc itself.
