Question:
Just a mention for this as it's pretty good.
It was shown anamorphic too! - arse! I was out & didn't tape it.
The US dvd is full-frame only :(
This deserves a proper re-vamped release.
There's a R4 release of this set for February 2003 - maybe that one will be in w/s with a bit of luck.
Caught the tail end (no pun intended) last night. I've only seen this once on video a few years ago and found it a deeply moving film. I've held off buying it because of the a/r of the R1 disc. I'm just off to update my top 20 films of the last decade!!!

Isn't the 4:3 version open matte?

yes, I believe so.
Still the wrong framing though.
Just praying we get a decent release of this underseen classic. Been in my top 10 ever since I saw it upon its release. One of the few films which has left me in floods of tears in the cinema.
Weir has revisited Dead Poets, so here's hoping the aussis do their own proud this time with the R4 release.
Stupid cable box locked up and didn't change channel so missed it :(
Was really looking forward to it as well
Me too Snuffy - I think I was the only person in the cinema when I first saw it and I blubbed and blubbed at the end and then I had to walk home - blubbing all the more. I tried to keep my head up and blub with pride but it didn't work - I looked a mess.
