A History of Britain - R2 vs R4 - packaging notes only
Question:

Interestingly, the R2 of this release works out cheaper for ex-UK customers (although they're probably pretty close to level in price if you're paying VAT). The packaging, however, is the real clincher.
The R2 packaging is designed as a mini-hardcover book inside a slipcase, with each disc housed in a "page" pocket of the book. The R4, by comparison, is a disappointingly crummy cardboard digipack which looks (and feels) like it could be crushed in a minor accident.
The glue holding the inner sleeves of the R2 package breaks easily, however, and the outer slipcase can be easily dented in transit. Still a beautiful package, though...and dual-coded for R4!
:)

Answers:

Nearly all UK BBC releases are also R4 encoded. This is simply because the BBC Australian offices have no budget to make their own releases. Accordingly any comparison between the 2 regions becomes redundant.

Quite so, kerbcrawler, in terms of disc content. And that'd be why I headed this thread with the words "packaging notes only", wouldn't it?
 :)
