Question:
Looking at Italian Job R1 (1.85:1) vs R2 (2.35:1)- both listed as being anamorphic.
The Message R2 (1.85:1) vs R1 & R2 Anchor Bay edns. (2.35:1 anamorphic)
What on earth do these mean??? Which ones will offer the best in terms of aspect ratio/picture quality?
Feeling confused....
R2 Italian Job is correct aspect ratio (2.35:1). Looks like the R1 title is currently on hold (R1 was listed as 1.85:1 this would have meant the picture had been cropped).
Original releases of The Message R2 was non-anamorphic 2.35:1
Anchor Bays R1 release might have been non-anamorphic.
Anchor Bays R2 release (due next year) is being listed as anamorphic 2.35:1. Best to wait for the anamorphic version.
I don't understand difference between anamorphic & non-anamorphic? I do like black bars at the top and bottom if that means anything as opposed to the whole screen getting filled up. But at the end of the day, I want to view the original cinema aspect ratio with the best picture quality. So what do people recommend and why?
