Blunders in movies
Question:

What are the most obvious blunders in films you've seen lately? I remember seeing a 8 page thing in Empire about it a couple of years back and it shown a shot of Gladiator with tractor tracks in the fields.

Answers:

I never really notice blunders in movies. I'm never sure if they are a hoax most of the time as I have never noticed the apparently 'famous' car spotting scene in Ben Hur and there were apparently loads in lord of the rings.
Oh, come to think of it, I did spot the one in LotR where the Uruk Hai lifts his head as Aragorn is running over to Boromir as he lies on the floor.
I think thats the only one I remember

Answers:

Gladiator has several
Scene where the the houses in the back gorund have double glazing. One of the crew wearing jeans and t shirt during a fight and the gas cylinder used to turn over the chariots
First knight (I think) has the lead riding across a field with telegraph poles

Answers:

i never see them, possibly because im watching the movie, not looking for mistakes in it.

I've never been convinced that that was a blooper because it's so obvious and there is a dialogue reaction to it. (Of course I acknowledge that it could have been an attempt to cover it up in post production.)
The only one I've ever noticed without reading about it was the dent on C3-PO's head flipping from side to side in the Death Star battle sequence.

My dad used to work with the son of the actor who played that very Stormtrooper. Hows that for a tenuous connection, eh?

The magazine DVD Monthly has a regular feature revealing some mistakes - mainly continuity errors - in films.
It's funny how you don't often notice these blunders until they're pointed out, then you can't see how you ever missed some of them...

The only one I've ever noticed was in See No Evil, Hear No Evil where Gene Wilder gets his hands cuffed behind his back - in the following scene where Richard Pryor cuts them off with an axe his hands are cuffed in front of his body not behind.

Answers:

Unless they are glaringly ovbious like a big boom mic coming into shot or a bad continuity thing I never notice them either.
I remember Gone in 60 Seconds (remake) was particularly bad for continuety though, I remember noticing that after Cage rips the wing mirror off it reappears later during the car chase.

I remember the scene in Stand By Me just after the 1st train dodge - you can see the radio mic trailing behind Vern's (Jerry O'Connell) left leg as he steps over the train tracks. It's mentioned in the commentary.
I've watched this movie at least 9 times over the years and only noticed the mistake last week.

I still love the one in my favourite movie Blade Runner, when Harrison Ford is 'lifting air'. I watched the movie 40 times and never noticed it until it was pointed out to me..its the scene where he's at the table facing Sean Young in Tyrells and Tyrell is standing beside him. Its a long shot, the VK machine is already on the table, then Harrison 'mimes' lifting the machine onto the table, effectively lifting nothing. Ridley must have shot it for a different angle but left that shot in the movie.
In Angel Heart Mickey Rourkes glasses appear and disappear off his face depending on the camera angle at one point in the movie..

The one that always makes me smile is the actual poster for 'Keep the Aspidistra Flying' with Helena Bonham Carter. The original UK poster had a scene of Bonham Carter in front of some kind of waterway (I think it was Venice). In the background is clearly visible a top-of-the-range speedboat - not bad for a scene supposedly set in the 1930s. :dork:

Jesus.. how anal is this site?!! Written by geeks with way too much time on their hands. I don't mind genuine movie mistakes but.. In Goldmember "During the fight scene between Austin and Mini-me, M-m is thrown against the mini bar fridge. You can clearly see the glitch in editing when Mini-me replaces the mannequin that hit the ground"
Uugh.. WHATEVER!!

behind it on the outside? in which case he should be projected through to the other side, or inside it? in which case he would be invisible.

I thought Q's description was centred around cameras on the outside of the car? Therefore if you are on the wrong side yoy wont be seen

Answers:

The cameras are supposed to pick up what's on one side (or end) of the car and project it onto the other.
The cameras at the rear of the car have captured Q's leg and it's being projected over the front of the car in the pic.

I don't normally notice but that one I did...to be honest though I normally notice the stretches of imagination or downright wrongness that some films have.
Like PC's running Mac OS's or the classic picture zooming to amazing clarity cockups.
kinda related but if an advert has an obvious lie in it, like the Sony minidisk advert, the progress bar goes 10x faster than it actually does in real life...isn't this false advertising and therefore wrong???
