Equilibrium - 4th Top 10 Movie this year!
Question:

Finally went to see it.
It is great beyond words. As Nick in the review below says, "You have to see it."
Unlike the people in the city of Libria, the movie evokes a complete range of feelings and emotions. It's more dramatic than Les Miserables and Regarding Henry, it makes you go "whoa" more than The Matrix, it's more stylish than HK action, it's more beautiful than anime, it's more detailed and realized than Gattaca, it's much more involving and interesting to watch than the bigger star/budgeted Minority Report. This is 1984/Fahrenheit 451 for the new millenium. Here I go again comparing one movie to the others, which isn't right, especially just because those others came first, doesn't mean they are better. I'll fall asleep watching or reading Fahrenheit or 1984, not that the ideas are bad, it's just not interesting enough, but Equilibrium has it all.
I had a feeling, and I'm rarely wrong about my own feelings, that this will be the 4th movie this year that I add to my Top 10 of all time (after Resident Evil, Ecks vs Sever, and Femme Fatale) and so it is. 2002 turned out one of the best years for me, and movies are generally getting better and better each year. I don't care that my opinion regarding that is not popular, it's everyone else's loss, not mine.
Anyway, I found this great review on CHUD by some guy Nick Nunziata, and honestly, I don't think I'll be able to say it any better, he's just so right on many aspects, so read his long, fanboy, in depth review and synopsis (don't be lazy, click on the link), with pictures there:

I've only seen the trailer, which looks impressive - although it doesn't convey the sense that it's a film that will "evoke[s] a complete range of feelings and emotions"
Still, look forward to seeing it when it's released over here.

Ok, i'll keep an eye out for the R1 dvd then. (also keeping a lookout for 'Below' to make an early appearance on DVD)

Equilibrium is a good film even though it uses/copies a lot from other films. There's a scene which is very similar to the lobby scene in the matrix but the fight/action sequences are different enough to make them interesting. Having a martial art involving guns is something I haven't seen in a film before and I am eagerly awaiting the DVD release.

Noooo. No way.
As far as I'm concerned, Blade Runner, Strange Days, Hurlyburly, Fifth Element, and Tailor of Panama are never to be outdone by any movie, and therefore remain untouched in Top10 of all time forever. :dork:
Just wondering whether to move Leon or Eye of the Beholder to 11-20, I'm at a conflict with myself.
For anyone interested, there is a great, extensive interview with Kurt Wimmer, the director of Equilibrium on CHUD, which is quickly becoming my favorite site due to their owners' and visitor's tastes being similar to mine.
