Fave post-apocalypse movies
Question:

My all time favourite movie genre would have to be post-apocalypse. There’s something so comforting about watching the world get blown to hell from the comfort of your sofa. I have to admit to purely selfish reasons for starting this thread in that I hope to discover some flicks that I haven’t already seen so please recommend your favourites, the more obscure the better.
A few of my choices in absolutely no particular order are:
Miracle Mile (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0097889)
The World, the Flesh and the Devil (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0053454)

The Omega Man is a classic, though I kind of think that Chuck Heston is still living it, and this years 28 Days Later did a really smart job of showing an empty England.
And this may be pedantic, but jonathan.e: half the films on your list aren't post-apocalyptic, but rather pre-apocolyptic. Or during-apocalypse. :dork:

I think most are post, but maybe a few are "movies in which an apocalypse happens at some point and a bit of the movie is post-apocalypse" ;)

:dork: I also liked Waterworld and The Postman. If you like The Postman you should read the book by David Brin - it is a lot better.
Have to disagree with you that Highlander 2 was the best in the series though :)

Fist Of The North Star(Anime) (http://uk.imdb.com/Title?0142371) - My favourite Anime film!
One that hasn't been mentioned but wasn't particularly great - Last Man(Jeri Ryan)
You can find more if you do a plot search on IMDb for 'post apocalypse' - or just 'apocalypse' gives more results.
One that sounds interesting is called Café Flesh (http://uk.imdb.com/Plot?0083707), but doesn't seem to exist anywhere else on the site??

As far as i know it's only out in America. Bought it years ago so it might be hard to find now.... But i saw a clip of it on C5's 'Out there' so it might have been given a R2 release. The only extra's on my release are some music video's by the 'Red Elvis's'.

 Don't forget a classic I once saw on BBC2 years ago (I was about 13 at the time)
Battle Truck
It was a sort of Mad Max film about a post nuclear holocaust world where this gang rampaged around in a big 22 Wheeler converted to have guns and cannons all over it, looking for oil.
Quality when I was 13!
