Question:
My all time favourite movie genre would have to be post-apocalypse. There’s something so comforting about watching the world get blown to hell from the comfort of your sofa. I have to admit to purely selfish reasons for starting this thread in that I hope to discover some flicks that I haven’t already seen so please recommend your favourites, the more obscure the better.
A few of my choices in absolutely no particular order are:
Miracle Mile (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0097889)
The World, the Flesh and the Devil (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0053454)

The Omega Man is a classic, though I kind of think that Chuck Heston is still living it, and this years 28 Days Later did a really smart job of showing an empty England.
And this may be pedantic, but jonathan.e: half the films on your list aren't post-apocalyptic, but rather pre-apocolyptic. Or during-apocalypse. :dork:

I think most are post, but maybe a few are "movies in which an apocalypse happens at some point and a bit of the movie is post-apocalypse" ;)

Waterworld
The Postman
Also:
Mad Max Trilogy, of course.
AI
Escape from LA!
Escape from NY
Circuitry Man
Cyborg 2
Highlander 2 (Best of series!)
and just apocalyptic, not post, and kind of:
Supernova
Impostor
The Arrival
Robocop 4
Robocop 5
Robocop 6
Robocop 7 aka Prime Directives.
:dork:
Gotta agree with Delicatessen.
28 Days Later
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Soylent Green
Terminator films
Dawn of the Dead
12 Monkeys
Waterworld
The Matrix
Ooo - I liked Logans Run too :)

:dork: I also liked Waterworld and The Postman. If you like The Postman you should read the book by David Brin - it is a lot better.
Have to disagree with you that Highlander 2 was the best in the series though :)
The Rapture
Last Night (during-apocalypse rather than post-apocalypse)
The Quiet Earth
Z for Zachariah
When the Wind Blows (Animation)
The Night of the Comet

Pah beaten to Where the Wind Blows, simple yet perfect.
Fist Of The North Star(Anime) (http://uk.imdb.com/Title?0142371) - My favourite Anime film!
One that hasn't been mentioned but wasn't particularly great - Last Man(Jeri Ryan)
You can find more if you do a plot search on IMDb for 'post apocalypse' - or just 'apocalypse' gives more results.
One that sounds interesting is called Café Flesh (http://uk.imdb.com/Plot?0083707), but doesn't seem to exist anywhere else on the site??
The Quiet Earth
Mad Max
12 Monkeys
Neon City
Mad Max and the Road Warrior.

Mr Stanton quite likes 'Six string Samurai' about a Buddy Holly lookalike samurai travling across the radioactive wasteleands fighting commies to get to Las Vegas were a new King is to be crowned.
The Postman
Threads
StarTrek: First Contact :dork: (its mainly set in Post-Apocalptic America)
MadMax
Tank Girl
Omega Man
are my faves...
Threads, Threads, Threads
Worth repeating its that good !
And another shout for The Quiet Earth - one of the only films I've still got on VHS !
The Last Battle:|
...oops...missed it in your first post...poseur:lol:

As far as i know it's only out in America. Bought it years ago so it might be hard to find now.... But i saw a clip of it on C5's 'Out there' so it might have been given a R2 release. The only extra's on my release are some music video's by the 'Red Elvis's'.
Dark City - in a sort of post-apocalyptic way!
Mad Max 1 (not too keen on MM2 anymore  )
Fist of the North Star ( the TV series not the movie, i thought the movie stank the second time round).
A Boy and his Dog.
 Don't forget a classic I once saw on BBC2 years ago (I was about 13 at the time)
Battle Truck
It was a sort of Mad Max film about a post nuclear holocaust world where this gang rampaged around in a big 22 Wheeler converted to have guns and cannons all over it, looking for oil.
Quality when I was 13!

Am I the only one that has spotted a flaw in this plan?
What?
That the thing would consume more Petrol than they'd find?
Shocked that nobody has mentioned this one yet (unless I missed it).
