Disney's Countdown to Christmas
Question:

The newly released Walt Disney collection "Countdown to Christmas" is of interest to collectors because it contains a number of classic shorts such as The Small One, Prince & the Pauper as well as several vintage Donald Duck, Goofy etc shorts. Disney have often edited out the original credits in their video collections so does anyone know whether the shorts in this particular DVD collection contain the original opening and closing credits or not?

Answers:

Mines in the post from Blackstar so should get it tomorrow. I expect the shorts will be presented in a similar format to the House of Mouse DTV releases.
Sad that Disney should want to bury such modern classics as Mickey's Christmas Carol and The Prince and the Pauper in such a way.

Answers:

Well, the good news is the shorts appear to be presented in full with opening titles (not sure about closing credits on the two longer shorts - I've only been able to give the disc a quick spin).
Unlike the two House of Mouse DTV releases, this compilation features NO linking sequences what-so-ever!
Now the bad news - The Prince and the Pauper is presented in Full Screen, and based on all that I've seen (basically the opening titles) it is Pan and Scan.
Here is a full list of the shorts on the disc:
The Prince and the Pauper
The Art of Skiiing
Alpine Climbers
Donald's Snow Fight
Wynken, Blynken and Nod
Winter Storage
The Small One
As you can see many are already available on existing Walt Disney Treasures releases - but is it worth noting that half of the running time is probably taken with The Prince and the Pauper and The Small One combined.
I'm hoping The Prince and the Pauper (along with stablemates Mickey's Christmas Carol and The Runaway Brain) will get a properly presented release on Mickey Mouse in Living Color Vol II (whenever that is released)

Answers:

Thanks for the information. I'll probably get this now despite the duplications.
